Job summary

Gilbane Building is seeking a mid-level Construction Accountant to support project accounting and forecasting for small to mid-sized projects. The role involves day-to-day interaction with project management, clients, and subcontractors, and will travel to project sites as needed.

You will collaborate with an experienced team, maintain WIP, process pay apps, and help ensure accurate financial reporting. A BS in Accounting with 5+ years in construction is preferred.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field.
  • 5+ years with CM or General Contractor organization.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides accounting support for project management teams
  • Prepare and process owner pay applications and related billing documentation
  • Reviews Work in Process (WIP) on assigned projects and explains variances
  • Ensures compliance with accounting policies and procedures
  • Support a Senior Project Accountant in project-level financial reporting
  • Process and track accounts payable and receivables, ensuring timely payments
  • Prepare, submit, and monitor vendor payments with project teams
  • Manage contracts, amendments, insurance, bonds, SOV, Files, and Co Policies
  • Review requisitions and lien waivers timely
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships internally & externally
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and contribute to ad hoc financial activities

  • Prepare, submit, and monitor vendor payments in coordination with project teams and clients
  • Manges contracts, amendments, insurance, bonds, SOV, Files, and Co Policies
  • Conduct timely and accurate review of requisitions and lien waivers
  • Develop and maintain positive professional relationships both internally & externally
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and contribute to ad hoc financial activities as needed
Experience/Education
Qualifications
  • BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
  • 5+ years with CM or General Contractor organization
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Proficient in CMiC - Preferred
  • Understanding of the overall project execution process, including budgeting, project forecasting, cost control, schedule, anticipated cost and project profitability familiarity with the GIG process
  • Familiarity with construction and pricing components
  • Familiarity with construction industry insurance products
  • Ability to communicate effectively, listens to understand, and can clearly convey information in all forms based on the audience to ensure shared meaning of the message
  • Acts inclusively by ensuring that actions and behaviors are respectful; shows empathy and treats others with dignity; leverages capabilities and insights of individuals with diverse perspectives, abilities and motivation
