Travis County in Austin is seeking a lead Deputy Constable to perform timely service of criminal and civil processes and to enforce local, state, and federal laws, with minimal supervision.
This senior role includes overseeing a program detail, handling warrants, arrests, transport of prisoners, bailiffs, and collaborations with other agencies, requiring strong reporting and safety skills; bilingual Spanish preferred.
Performs timely service of all criminal and civil processes issued by the courts and enforces local, state and federal laws. This classification serves as a lead/senior level and/or oversees a special detail of a program within the constable's office and engages in investigatory duties with minimal supervision as required by the department.
This job is within the Non-TCSO POPS job family. It is a second level job within the uniformed Constable series. This job is distinguished from the Deputy Constable job by the additional experience and testing required to obtain this level.
Education and Experience: Requires a High School diploma or equivalency certificate with no felony convictions; must be at least 21 years of age; must be honorably discharged from the military and any law enforcement agency; requires active TCOLE license; if under 21, must have 60+ hours of accredited college credits or 2 years of military service with honorable discharge.
Licenses, Registrations, Certifications, or Special Requirements: Requires basic certification as a law enforcement officer by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement; requires two (2) years of law enforcement experience.

Constant standing, handling, use of vision, depth perception, frequent reaching, forceful gripping, use of fine dexterity, occasional sitting, walking, climbing, kneeling/crouching, bending/squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, talking; exposure to excessive heat and cold (outdoor conditions); job may involve danger due to contact with criminals and suspects; must be able to perform physical functions associated with operating a motor vehicle, safely operate a firearm, radio equipment and computer equipment.
Monday - Thursday, 10 hours or Tuesday - Friday, 10 hours.
