Job summary

Wessex Water is seeking a Climate-Conscious Conservation Adviser to join the Conservation team. The role focuses on delivering biodiversity land management and advising across the business, with regular travel around the Wessex Water region.

The role supports the organisation's environmental commitments and requires strong collaboration with volunteers and external groups. You will contribute to project work, budgets, and monitoring, while developing professionally within a high‑performing team

Qualifications

• Experience delivering nature conservation, ecology or environmental projects.
• Ecological surveying, habitat identification and classification, monitoring, data analysis and recording.
• Knowledge of UK ecology, habitat management and conservation policy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Problem solving using initiative in a dynamic environment.
• Proficient IT skills including MS Office and MS 365.
• Experience using GIS software.
• Full UK driving licence with travel across the Wessex Water region.

Responsibilities

• Deliver conservation land management across sites and advise the wider business on biodiversity commitments.
• Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders, volunteers and community groups.
• Manage project work, including desktop assessments, procuring services, and reporting to regulators.
• Estimate costs, manage budgets, and oversee habitat works and monitoring programs.
