Job summary

My County Parks is seeking a natural resource aide to support habitat management at Hickory Grove Park. You will plant native vegetation, manage invasive species, and assist with maintenance and safety tasks while engaging with park visitors and staff.

The role requires outdoor work in all weather, a valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain a pesticide applicator certificate within the first month. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Must understand Iowa's native flora and fauna.
• Does not require pesticide cert initially; cert within first month preferred.
• Daily outdoor physical labor in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Plant native vegetation.
• Conduct prescribed burns.
• Control brush and invasive species.
• Mow and apply herbicide.
• Harvest prairie seed.
• Operate chainsaws as needed.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and facilities.
• Perform general maintenance tasks.
• Maintain relationships with public and staff.
