Job summary

Groundworks New Mexico is seeking a full‑time conservation program lead based in Taos, NM, to coordinate upper Rio Grande projects from setup through completion. You will ensure crews are prepared, staffed, resourced, and operating safely, while leading seasonal orientations and ongoing technical training.

You will provide field leadership, project quality oversight, risk management, and incident response, and recruit, hire, onboard, and support crew staff and Corpsmembers across locations.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of natural resource or related field experience.
  • 1+ year with a Youth/Conservation Corps or similar program.
  • Requires leadership, communication, teaching, problem‑solving, conservation knowledge, technical field skills, off‑road driving, and familiarity with New Mexico land agencies.
  • High school diploma required; WFR and B‑level sawyer certification required or obtainable within 3 months.
  • Must be 21+, have a valid license, pass background checks, travel/camp, and perform strenuous outdoor work.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate upper Rio Grande conservation projects from setup through completion, ensuring crews are prepared, staffed, resourced, and operating safely.
  • Lead seasonal orientation and ongoing technical training.
  • Provide field leadership, project quality oversight, risk management, and incident response.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and support crew staff and Corpsmembers.
  • Provide operational, logistical, and personnel support across project locations.
  • Support partner outreach, project planning, reporting, and grant compliance; track impacts, service hours, expenses, timecards, and in‑kind contributions.
  • Coordinate tools, equipment, supplies, and disaster‑response deployments.
  • Support new program initiatives, data collection, and GIS‑based monitoring.
  • Participate in rotating after‑hours On Call team and perform other duties as assigned.
