Job summary

Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc. seeks a Connected Vehicle Platform Engineer to own the cloud and IoT backbone for its autonomous systems. You will design scalable data architectures and build telemetry pipelines, leveraging AWS services like Kinesis, S3, Lambda, and SageMaker for ML workflows.

Required are 2+ years of experience and proficiency in Python and C++, with a strong focus on real-time data and secure, scalable cloud infrastructure. Remote work is considered for this role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in software or computer engineering, information technology, or related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Python and C++ or similar languages.
  • Strong understanding of real-time data pipelines and distributed systems.

  • Design edge-to-cloud data architectures for autonomous development and fleet operations.
  • Build data pipelines for telemetry ingestion using AWS services.
  • Deploy and manage ML infrastructure including SageMaker pipelines and model registry.
  • Implement CI/CD and infrastructure as code with Terraform.

Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc. is a leading global manufacturer of golf cars, utility and personal transportation vehicles, professional turf-care equipment, and ground support equipment. Textron Specialized Vehicles markets products under several different brands. Its vehicles are found in environments ranging from golf courses to factories, airports to planned communities, and theme parks to hunting preserves.

Responsibilities:
  • Own the cloud and IoT backbone of the vehicle’s autonomous system, ensuring it is scalable, cost-efficient, and production ready.
  • Design reliable edge-to-cloud data architectures supporting autonomous system development and fleet operations.
  • Build data pipelines for Kinesis, S3, Lambda for telemetry ingestion.
  • Deploy and manage ML infrastructure: SageMaker pipelines, model registry, retraining workflows.
  • Implement CI/CD and infrastructure as code (Terraform). Enable reliable data flow from vehicle to cloud to training pipeline to OTA deployment.
  • Develop fleet-management tools supporting remote diagnostics, telemetry, health monitoring, and fleet analytics.
  • Establish data governance, retention, and security policies for connected vehicle systems.
  • Support implementation of cybersecurity controls for connected vehicle and OTA infrastructure.
  • Ensure ML training and deployment pipelines operate efficiently and at scale.
  • Deploy OTA updates securely and reliably to vehicles and monitor system health, logging, and observability.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Software or Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field required.
  • Years of Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience required.
  • Software Knowledge: Python, C++ or similar programming languages required.
Additional Requirements:

Required Skills: Strong understanding of real‑time data pipelines and distributed systems. Experience designing scalable, secure cloud infrastructure. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform). Strong debugging and system reliability mindset.

  • Preferred Skills: Experience with autonomous/connected vehicle development. MQTT and IoT‑based communication systems. Experience with AWS cloud architecture (IoT Greengrass, IoT Core, S3, Kinesis, Lambda, SageMaker). MLOps pipelines (model training, deployment, monitoring). Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS). Data engineering workflows (ETL pipelines). Python or Node based Backend API Frameworks.
Travel Requirements:
  • ~10-15% travel as required to support fleet deployments, vehicle connectivity infrastructure, telemetry systems, cloud integration validation, and customer rollouts. Valid driver’s license required.

Open to considering remote work for this opportunity. Employees who are working in remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).
