Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Technical Management, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Configuration Management within aerospace, defense, space, or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience administering engineering change control processes and product baselines.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 quality management requirements.
  • Experience supporting government and commercial aerospace programs.
  • Proficiency with PLM, ERP, and document management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain product baselines, including functional, allocated, development, product, and as-built configurations.
  • Ensure complete and accurate configuration identification of drawings, specifications, parts lists, software, manufacturing data, and related technical documentation.
  • Develop and maintain Configuration Management Plans (CMPs) and supporting procedures.
  • Manage configuration records throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Administer engineering change processes, including ECRs, ECNs, deviations, waivers, and related change documentation.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary reviews to evaluate technical, cost, schedule, manufacturing, quality, and contractual impacts of proposed changes.
  • Ensure approved changes are properly implemented and released across affected systems and deliverables.
  • Support Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), Change Review Boards (CRBs), and program change approval activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of configuration baselines and approved changes.
  • Provide configuration status reports and metrics to program management and leadership.
  • Support product traceability and documentation required for customer audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Ensure synchronization among PLM, ERP, quality, and document management systems.
  • Plan and support Functional Configuration Audits (FCAs) and Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs).
  • Participate in customer, regulatory, and internal audits.
  • Verify compliance with configuration management requirements established by contracts, standards, and company procedures.
  • Ensure completed products conform to approved technical baselines.
  • Support proposal, development, qualification, production, and sustainment activities.
  • Evaluate customer requirements and contractual configuration management obligations.
  • Coordinate with customers and government agencies regarding configuration-related matters.
  • Support risk management and issue resolution associated with product configuration and change implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable quality management systems, aerospace standards, customer requirements, and internal procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve configuration management efficiency, effectiveness, and automation.
  • Support deployment of business systems, digital thread initiatives, and product lifecycle management tools.
  • Provide configuration management training and guidance to program personnel.

Job Title: Configuration Manager

Reporting To: Lead, Product Assurance (CHT)

Work Schedule: Hybrid - Chatsworth, CA

We're looking for a Configuration Manager to join our team in Moog's Space and Defense Group. This position follows a 9/80 work schedule, which provides every other Friday off!

The Configuration Manager will work out of our Chatsworth, CA site and is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining configuration management processes throughout the product lifecycle for aerospace and defense programs. This role ensures the integrity, traceability, and control of product configuration information from development through production, sustainment, and end-of-life support.

The Configuration Manager serves as the focal point for configuration identification, change control, configuration status accounting, and configuration verification activities. The position interfaces closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, program management, supply chain, contracts, customers, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with contractual, customer, and internal configuration management requirements.

The Configuration Manager exercises substantial independent judgment in the administration of configuration management processes supporting flight, space, and defense hardware programs.

To be considered for our Configuration Manager role, here's what you'll typically need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Technical Management, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Configuration Management within aerospace, defense, space, or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

It would be great if you also had:

  • Experience supporting spaceflight, military, or high-reliability aerospace products.
  • Familiarity with EIA-649 Configuration Management Standard Principles.
  • Experience supporting customer and government audits.
  • Knowledge of Model-Based Definition (MBD), Digital Thread, and Digital Engineering initiatives.
  • Experience with Solumina, Teamcenter, Windchill, Agile, SAP, Oracle, or similar enterprise systems.
  • Project leadership or configuration management team leadership experience is a plus.
  • Active Security Clearance.

Salary Range Transparency: Chatsworth, CA $120,000.00-$140,000.00 Annually
