Job summary

Kearfott Corporation, a leader in aerospace and defense, seeks a Configuration Management Specialist in New Jersey to maintain integrity of engineering documentation across the product lifecycle. You will manage ECOs, RNs, and revisions, ensuring controlled lifecycle release and audit readiness.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of CM experience, plus strong MS Office/Project/SharePoint skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years' experience in configuration management or related field.
  • Experience with product lifecycle management, configuration identification, version control, change control processes, and related tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and ability to build productive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with MS Office; working knowledge of MS Project and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Competency in MS SharePoint or similar collaboration/file management/version control systems.
  • US Citizen required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, procedures, and related documentation throughout their lifecycle.
  • Coordinate and process ECOs, RN s, and other engineering change documents.
  • Review documentation for completeness, formatting, and compliance prior to release.
  • Maintain revisions, version history, and release status in DMS/PLM systems.
  • Ensure obsolete revisions are archived and clearly identified to prevent unauthorized use.
  • Coordinate change approvals with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Program Management.
  • Verify proposed changes have the required approvals before implementation.
  • Assist teams in evaluating downstream impact of document and product changes.
  • Maintain configuration records supporting traceability, regulatory compliance, and audit readiness.
  • Support internal and external audits with configuration records and revision history.
  • Develop and maintain configuration management procedures and work instructions.
  • Generate reports on engineering changes, document status, and configuration activities.
  • Suggest process improvements that preserve data integrity while increasing efficiency.

Configuration Management Specialist
Position Summary

The Configuration Management Specialist is responsible for maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and traceability of engineering documentation throughout the product lifecycle. Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management, this role manages engineering changes, document revisions, and product configuration records to ensure that all released documentation is accurate, controlled, and available to stakeholders.

The Configuration Management Specialist administers document control processes, coordinates Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Revision Notices (RNs), maintains product data within IFS and other PLM/ERP systems, and ensures engineering documentation follows a controlled lifecycle from initial release through revision and retirement. This role helps prevent manufacturing errors, supports quality and regulatory compliance, and maintains complete audit trails by ensuring employees are always working from the latest approved documentation.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Manage engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), procedures, and related technical documentation throughout their lifecycle.
  • Coordinate and process Revision Notices (RNs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and other engineering change documentation.
  • Review documentation for completeness, formatting, and compliance prior to release.
  • Maintain document revisions, version history, and release status within document management systems.
  • Ensure obsolete revisions are properly archived and clearly identified to prevent unauthorized use.
  • Coordinate change approval workflows with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Program Management.
  • Verify that proposed engineering changes have received all required approvals prior to implementation.
  • Assist engineering teams in evaluating the downstream impact of proposed document and product changes.
  • Maintain configuration records that support product traceability, regulatory compliance, and audit readiness.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing configuration records and revision history.
  • Develop and maintain configuration management procedures and work instructions.
  • Generate reports and metrics related to engineering changes, document status, and configuration activities.
  • Recommend process improvements that improve efficiency while maintaining document integrity.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years' experience
  • Experience with product life-cycle management, configuration identification, version control, change control process, and tools associated with product management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to plan and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Effective verbal communication & interpersonal skills including the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Complete proficiency with MS Office and a working knowledge of Microsoft Project and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Competency in MS SharePoint or similar collaboration/file management/version control systems.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with IFS ERP or similar ERP platforms.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, electronics, manufacturing, or another regulated industry.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management standards.
  • Experience working with CAD-generated engineering documentation.
  • Knowledge of engineering bills of materials (BOMs) and product structures.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey is $70,000 - $100,000 Annually. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, and internal consistency.
