Job description

**POSITION SUMMARY*** Responsible for managing Engineering Design Configuration, Configuration Control, and Engineering Change Management across shipbuilding projects to ensure engineering design information, parts, equipment, materials, Vendor Furnished Information (VFI), Owner Furnished Information (OFI), and associated technical data are properly identified, controlled, maintained, and communicated throughout the project lifecycle.* Responsible for establishing and maintaining the engineering configuration baseline and managing Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) released by Engineering. The position coordinates engineering changes with Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, the Client, and other affected stakeholders to ensure that changes are properly evaluated, approved, implemented, tracked, and incorporated into the project configuration in accordance with existing processes.* The position is also responsible for Parts and Equipment Identification, maintenance and control of the Main Equipment List (MEL) and Common Parts Catalog (CPC), coordination of model-generated Material Take Offs (MTOs) and Material Requisitions, and management and coordination of VFI and OFI required to support engineering design and configuration control.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:** Because Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, the essential duties and responsibilities may be different than described.* Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays* Comply with company, Federal, State, and local safety, ethics, and environmental rules, regulations and policies while performing duties* Manage Engineering Design Configuration and Configuration Control, maintaining the approved engineering baseline throughout the shipbuilding project lifecycle.* Manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) from initiation and evaluation through approval, implementation, verification, and closure.* Coordinate engineering changes with Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Planning, Production, the Client/Owner, vendors, and other stakeholders.* Manage Parts and Equipment identification and configuration, ensuring traceability and consistency across engineering models, drawings, and technical documentation.* Manage and maintain the Main Equipment List (MEL) and Common Parts Catalog (CPC), ensuring information remains accurate and aligned with the approved design.* Manage Material Take Offs (MTOs) from engineering models and coordinate Material Requisitions with Project Management and Procurement.* Manage Vendor Furnished Information (VFI) and Owner Furnished Information (OFI), including requirements, tracking, engineering review, revisions, and incorporation into the design.* Apply automation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and data analytics to improve engineering configuration and change-management activities, including data extraction, classification, comparison, discrepancy identification, document and drawing analysis, parts matching, workflow automation, and management reporting.* Manage integrated data dashboards, reporting tools, and data sources for Configuration and Change Management, MEL, CPC, MTOs, Material Requisitions, VFI, OFI, and other managed engineering information to provide accurate and timely project status and visibility.* Maintain configuration traceability and support the involved areas to evaluate and resolve the impact of changes and discrepancies across engineering models, drawings, equipment, materials, procurement information, production, and other affected deliverables.* Develop and maintain Configuration and Change Management processes, workflows, status reporting, reviews, and audits to ensure engineering information remains controlled and consistent with the approved ship configuration.* Perform other duties as instructed**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES**Directly and/or indirectly supervise employees assigned to the Engineering Dept. Travel is primarily local, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.**REQUIREMENTS****Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident. Sponsorship is not available****Education/Experience**:* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Project Management, or a related technical or management field required.* Shipbuilding or marine industry experience required, with experience supporting engineering, design, construction, configuration management, change management, material management, or related shipyard activities.* Experience coordinating across Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, Planning, Production, vendors, and clients in a shipbuilding project environment.* Experience managing engineering data, configuration/change information, integrated data systems, dashboards, or Product Data Management (PDM) environments preferred.* Experience developing and implementing processes, workflows, reporting tools, and data controls in support of engineering and shipbuilding project execution preferred.**Skills:**Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior management, employees, government officials, and the public. Ability to carry out and understand assignments, and/or convey or exchange routine information. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, general business periodicals, technical procedures, company policies/procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to rapidly obtain, sort, filter, and analyze large volumes of data for distillation into high-level reports. Ability to work in a highly technical and fast paced detailed design and construction program environment. Ability to multi-task and work multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Advanced level Microsoft Suite experience required including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Requires excellent written, oral, and presentation/communication skills. Experience managing and maintaining a database.
