Qualifications

  • Willingness to pursue and maintain the AVIXA CTS certification during employment.
  • Clear verbal and written communication with strong judgment and quick troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Teams, Zoom, and other UC platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor conference room technology for meetings, events, and virtual proceedings.
  • Partner with meeting hosts to understand objectives and align technical solutions.
  • Set up and troubleshoot unified communications across Cisco Webex, GoToMeeting, Zoom, and Teams.
  • Perform daily room checks, maintain hardware, and ensure systems are functional before use.
  • Provide basic in-room PC and laptop setup, Wi-Fi, remote access, and presentation support.
  • Maintain and update support documentation and equipment inventory.
  • Collaborate with Conference Technology teams across offices to resolve Service Desk tickets.

Conference Center Technology Specialist I

What You'll Do

As a Conference Center Technology Specialist I, you will serve as the front line of white-glove conference technology support at the Conference Center, a hub for critical meetings, depositions, virtual trials, hearings, and large-scale events.

In this role, you will deliver exceptional client service, anticipate technical needs and offer solutions when issues arise. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive technical support and assistance to the entire user community at the conference center, ensuring a seamless and efficient technology experience. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Meeting Readiness & Execution - Set up, operate, and monitor conference room technology to ensure seamless execution across meetings, events, and virtual proceedings.
  • User Experience & Communication - Partner with meeting hosts to understand objectives and align technical solutions, explaining technology clearly to non-technical users.
  • Unified Communications Expertise - Set up, operate, and troubleshoot a wide range of unified communication platforms, including Cisco Webex, GoToMeeting, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Room & Systems Management - Perform daily room checks, maintain conference room hardware, and ensure that all systems are fully functional prior to use.
  • Technical Setup & Support - Provide basic in-room PC and laptop setup, Wi-Fi, remote access, PowerPoint, and visiting attorney office setups.
  • AV Systems Operation - Become proficient in operating the firm's Crestron GUI interface in various conference rooms and multipurpose spaces.
  • Documentation & Process Improvement - Maintain and update local and firmwide support documentation, including equipment inventory, processes, and procedures.
  • Firmwide Collaboration - Work closely with Conference Technology teams across offices, responding to and resolving Service Desk tickets.
  • Professionalism Under Pressure - Respond promptly and effectively to all technical issues that may arise.

What You'll Bring

  • Education or Equivalent Experience - Relevant education, technical training, or equivalent hands-on experience in supporting conference or audio-visual (AV) technology environments.
  • Relevant Experience - 1 to 3 years of audio-visual (AV) experience in a conference center or similar professional setting.
  • Technical Certifications - A willingness to pursue and maintain the AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) certification during employment.
  • Customer Service Excellence - A strong commitment to providing white-glove service with the ability to anticipate client needs and exceed expectations.
  • Communication and Problem-Solving Skills - Clear verbal and written communication skills, accompanied by strong judgment and an ability to troubleshoot quickly and effectively.
  • Technical Proficiency - Hands-on experience with Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint), Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other unified communication platforms.
  • Adaptability and Learning Mindset - A willingness to stay current with evolving AV technologies, systems, and procedures.
  • Physical and Scheduling Flexibility - The ability to lift up to 30 pounds, move freely throughout the workplace, and adjust work hours as needed, including occasional weekends, to support client needs.

Compensation

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position in New York City. This range may differ based on your geographic location and cost of living considerations. At Kirkland & Ellis, we consider compensation more than just a base salary. Compensation Range:

New York City: $67,000 - $92,000
