Job summary

The Fountain Group is seeking an R&D Laboratory Coordinator in Manassas, VA to support new product development and improvements by preparing prototypes and bench-top samples. You will maintain documentation, manage materials, and ensure a clean, compliant lab environment.

Preferred candidates have 1–2 years in food preparation or the food industry, particularly confectionery, and familiarity with SOPs, cGMP, GMP, and HACCP guidelines. This is a 6-month role with potential extension/hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; science coursework preferred.
• 1–2 years in food preparation or the food industry; confectionery experience preferred.
• Knowledge of GMPs and HACCP principles.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow SOPs, cGMP procedures, and detailed instructions.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with barcode scanners and warehouse inventory systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support development of new products and improvements by preparing laboratory prototypes and bench-top samples.
• Organize daily laboratory activities based on priorities from R&D team.
• Execute batch records and maintain accurate documentation.
• Monitor supplies and materials, maintain inventory, and procure as needed.
• Prepare and package samples for shipment to internal and external customers.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment and manage equipment and supplies.
• Follow SOPs, cGMP, GMP, HACCP guidelines, and safety policies.
• Use PPE and complete required training.
• Follow detailed instructions while aligning with plant capabilities for prototypes.
• Participate in product tasting and taste panels as required.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support R&D activities.
