ACME Concrete Paving is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Concrete Paving Quality Control Technician to support heavy civil and airfield paving operations. This role is responsible for ensuring that all concrete materials and placement activities meet project specifications, agency requirements (FAA, USACE, DOT), and ACME’s internal quality standards.
The ideal candidate thrives in a field environment, understands concrete behavior, and takes ownership of testing accuracy and documentation.
Perform field and laboratory testing of concrete and aggregates including:
Slump
Air content (pressure meter)
Unit weight
Temperature
Gradation analysis
Compressive and flexural strength specimen preparation
Cast, cure, and document concrete test specimens
Maintain daily QC reports and testing logs
Monitor batching, placement, and curing operations
Verify compliance with project specifications and approved mix designs
Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, batch plant operators, and third-party testing agencies
Identify non-conforming work and assist in corrective action
Maintain testing equipment calibration and documentation
Support submittals and quality documentation as needed
2+ years of experience in concrete field testing (preferred)
ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I certification (required or ability to obtain)
Strong understanding of concrete materials and mix behavior
Ability to work extended hours during paving operations
Valid driver’s license
Strong documentation and communication skills
Field-based position in active construction environments
Occasional travel to regional project sites
