Job summary

BCI Construction, Inc. is seeking a Concrete Lead to join our central Minnesota team in Sauk Rapids. This role will form, place, and finish concrete on footing and foundation projects, collaborating with the project team, vendors, and subcontractors to deliver high-quality work on schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years of commercial concrete experience required.
• DOT medical and drug evaluations required to obtain a DOT health card.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Comply with BCI site safety first and foremost.
• Lead crews and coordinate with field leadership and subcontractors to meet daily construction goals.
• Receive direction from concrete foreman, while mentoring teammates.
• Give onsite direction to all crew members.
• Perform surface preparation, concrete layout, forming and finishing per project specs.
• Read plans and ensure compliance with architectural and engineering drawings.
• Execute QA/QC to meet project specifications and quality craftsmanship.
• Support light carpentry and selective demolition as needed.
• Verify materials meet submittals and align with shop drawings.

Wage: $35 per hour and up, depending on experience

This roleis responsible forforming, placing, & finishing concretein primarily footing / foundation projects. Occasionally will have to supplement and assist flatworks scopes. This role will collaborate with all members of the project team, vendors, andothersubcontractors to accurately define the project’s needs. The end goal is to ensure projects are delivered successfully on time& with high quality. Working hours range, depending on the project, but typically start at 6:00am or 7:00am. A typical work week is Monday through Friday but may vary depending on current projects. On “pour days” your end time will fluctuate.

Responsibilities

• Comply with BCI site safety first and foremost
• Collaborate with Field Leadership and subcontractors to understand daily construction activities and assignments, to lead crews to execute construction goals throughout projects.
• Receive direction from concrete foreman, while training & mentoring those working with you.
• Give onsite direction to all crew members.
• Perform:
  o Prepare surfaces for concrete work – i.e. final grading
  o Concrete layout activities. Establish elevations from given benchmarks to provide top of wall, top of column, top of slab, etc.
  o Forming & fine grading of flatwork, sub-grade
  o Forming & assembly of footing / foundation forms.
  o Pour & Finish to project specific specifications – Flatwork & Foundations
• Understand plans, specifications. Ensure specifications and regulations outlined in architectural and engineering plans are followed.
• Perform and implement project specific Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QAQC) practices to ensure projects are delivered project specifications and of quality craftsmanship.
• Supplemental work will consist of light carpentry and selective demolition.
• Verify all materials reflect project specific approved submittals along with ensuring design drawings and shop drawings coincide prior to installation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years of experience with Commercial Concrete required.
• As a BCI authorized driver, you mustcomply withall applicable DOT regulations, including successful completion of medical and drug evaluationsrequiredto obtain and a DOT health card.
• Valid driver's license.

• Total Station Experience
• ACI Certification

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of the concrete process, ability to from, pour, finish, and protect concrete.
• Ability to finish concrete to all specifications. (broomed, burned tight, etc.)
• Capacity to layout, set, and strip formwork for footings & foundations.
• Knowledge of the process and able to pour concrete in adverse weather conditions.
• Ability to read and cross-reference a multitude of project plans and other project documents against work being installed and implemented.
• Competently utilize various tools and equipment to ensure project quality, performance, and cleanliness.
• Ability to operate a multitude of construction equipment typically found on commercial construction job sites (Both hand tools and heavy equipment)

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Construction sites arerelatively uniquesituationsregardingtypical work conditions. Workers are exposed tocold weatherconditions, hot weather conditions, non-level ground, moving mechanical equipment or other workers, high spaces, low spaces, fumes, airborne particles, exposure to shock, etc. Strict policies and in place for these differing conditions, but employees must adhere to safety policies to protect them against negative impacts of such exposures.
