Job summary

The Fred Smith Company is seeking an experienced Concrete Finisher/Form Carpenter in Raleigh, NC. The role involves constructing and installing concrete forms, placing and finishing concrete, and completing projects safely and according to specifications.

Successful applicants will have at least 3 years of experience in forming and finishing concrete for bridges, culverts, and walls, with the ability to read plans and use a tape measure.

Qualifications

• Previous concrete form carpentry and finishing experience required.
• Knowledge of concrete placement, curing, and finishing methods.
• Ability to read construction plans and use a tape measure accurately.
• Experience using concrete-forming tools and equipment.
• Able to perform physically demanding work outdoors.
• Able to lift 50–75 pounds and stand, bend, kneel, and climb throughout the shift.
• Dependable transportation and consistent attendance.
• Willingness to work early mornings, overtime, and occasional weekends as needed.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build, install, align, brace, and remove concrete forms.
• Read plans, measurements, grades, and layout markings.
• Pour, spread, level, screed, float, edge, and finish concrete.
• Create broom, smooth, and other specified finishes.
• Install reinforcing steel, wire mesh, and related materials.
• Operate hand and power tools safely.
• Maintain a clean and organized jobsite.
• Follow company safety procedures and use required protective equipment.
• Work effectively with supervisors, equipment operators, and crew members.
