Job summary

Orion Group Holdings, Inc. is seeking a concrete finisher to smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete such as floors, walkways, and curbs at our Dallas project sites.

The role involves aligning forms, patching voids, and using saws to cut expansion joints, with emphasis on quality and safety on the job. The ideal candidate has at least one year of concrete finishing experience and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience finishing concrete structures preferred.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Signals concrete truck driver to position vehicle to facilitate pouring.
• Moves discharge chute of truck to direct concrete into forms.
• Spreads concrete into inaccessible sections of forms with rake or shovel.
• Levels concrete to specified depth with handheld screen and floats to bring water to surface.
• Smooths and shapes surfaces of freshly poured concrete.
• Finishes concrete surfaces, and rubs with abrasive stone to finish.
• Removes rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces and patches holes with fresh concrete or epoxy.
• Molds expansion joints and edges.
• Sprinkles colored stone chips, powdered steel, or coloring powder on concrete to finish.
• Produces rough concrete surface with broom.
• Mixes cement with hoe or concrete-mixing machine.
• Directs subgrade work, mixing of concrete, and setting of forms.
• Breaks up and repairs old concrete surfaces.
• Operates cement mixing machines, power trowels, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and other instruments.
• Maintains equipment and tools to ensure long lasting use.
