Job summary

Pipeline Construction & Maintenance, Inc. is seeking a concrete worker to smooth and finish poured concrete surfaces such as floors, walks, sidewalks, roads, or curbs using hand and power tools.

The role involves aligning forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters, patching voids, and cutting expansion joints with saws. The position requires performing a variety of tasks including edging joints, broom finishes, and supervising placement to ensure proper curing and finish quality.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary certificate or equivalent in construction trades or related field.
  • 1–2 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge.
  • Spread, level, and smooth concrete with trowel, screed, rake, and floats.
  • Direct truck to position when pouring concrete and move chute to place concrete.
  • Inspect forms to ensure proper construction.
  • Create rough concrete surface with broom.
  • Moisten surface, fill holes with grout or slurry, and smooth with trowel.

Description

Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete, such as floors, walks, sidewalks, roads, or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools. Align forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters; patch voids; use saws to cut expansion joints. Classify installers of mortarless segmental concrete masonry wall units in "Landscaping and Groundskeeping Worker".

Tasks
  • Mold expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge.
  • Spread, level, and smooth concrete, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float.
  • Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete, and move chute to direct concrete on forms.
  • Check the forms that hold the concrete to see that they are properly constructed.
  • Produce rough concrete surface, using broom.
  • Wet surface to prepare for bonding, fill holes and cracks with grout or slurry, and smooth, using trowel.
