Job summary

Mason Construction, LLC. seeks an Industrial Journeyman Concrete Finisher to place, smooth and finish concrete surfaces, including foundations and pavements, and to assist with formwork and shoring systems per sketches and standards.

Candidate must have at least 3 years of industrial construction experience and 2 years as a journeyman concrete finisher, with ability to read prints and operate hand and power tools.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years Industrial Construction Experience.
• Minimum of 2 years Industrial Journeyman Concrete Finisher Experience.
• Must be able to read and interpret prints, drawings and plans.
• Knowledge of Industrial Concrete Finisher and Carpenter hand tools, power tools and layout tools.
• Required to have all hand tools and be experienced with related power tools.
• Must be able to meet all physical demands and pre-employment conditions.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must be able to work up to 7 days per week and the hours necessary in order to achieve the goals of the company and the project.

• Must work efficiently, productively and safely without error and consistently meet the productions goals as set by the Foreman, Superintendent or Project Manager.
• Examines blue prints, sketches, building plans and specifications to determine dimensions of structure and material required.
• Must have knowledge of the proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in heavy construction.
• Performs daily inspection of each tool or piece of equipment that they operate to ensure that the tools and equipment are safe and fit for duty; prior to utilizing the equipment.
• Inspects, examines, selects and gathers materials and tools.
• Inspects all designated work areas for hazards and obstructions.
• Uses crane/rigging hand signals to rig, load, transport and unload material and/or equipment.
• Measures and marks cutting lines on material such as boards, timbers, or plywood.
• Uses carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, plump bobs, screw drivers, adjustable wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors and pry bars, electric and pneumatic tools.
• Assists with layout, preparation, erection and assembly of forms for pouring concrete and grout.
• Assists in the setting, bracing and alignment of forms with lumber, timbers, turnbuckles, clamps, wall ties, coil rods, etc. for use in building concrete piers, footings, and walls.
• Assist in verifying accuracy of structure with transit, tape measure, plumb bob, square and level.
• Performs minor maintenance or cleaning activities on tools and equipment.
• Assists in tying rebar.
• Pours and finishes concrete and grout.
• Properly vibrates concrete during placement.
• Finishes and smooths freshly poured concrete structures with straight edges, hand floats, trowels, bull-bloats, fresnos, darbies, etc.
• Executes final concrete finishes such as brooming, hand troweling, machine troweling, stamping, staining, polishing, etc.
• Will correctly apply curing compounds or will assist in placing and maintaining other curing methods such as curing blankets, burlap, soaker hoses, sprinklers, flooding water, etc.
• Assists in the installation and setting of anchor bolts, templates and embed items
• Dismantles prefabricated and wooden form systems
• Must be able to handle and operate small tools (hammers, wrenches, shovels, rakes, come-a-longs, compactors, and various air, electric, and hydraulic power tools) and become proficient.
• Will maintain housekeeping and an orderly site as work tasks are performed.
• Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
• May lead Jobsite Safety Analysis

Industrial Journeyman Concrete Finisher

Position Summary:

Industrial Journeyman Concrete Finishers will place, smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete, such as foundation, paving, duct banks, columns, beams, piers, pedestals, and other concrete structures. They will also work with carpenter crews to construct, build, install, position, fabricate and dismantle wooden formwork and engineered formwork and shoring systems for concrete and grout placement according to sketches, blueprints, and/or company standards. May also be required to build wood framed structures.
