Job summary

The H&K Group, Inc. Structures Division is seeking a Concrete Field Testing Technician to collect and test concrete samples across multiple locations. You will perform moisture tests, aggregate gradations, and maintain records while following OSHA, MSHA, and H&K safety policies.

This role requires safety, motivation, and teamwork, with opportunities for training and growth. Candidates should have ready-mix plant experience, knowledge of concrete mix designs, and the ability to communicate

Qualifications

• Experience at a ready-mix plant.
• Working knowledge of concrete mix designs.
• Algebra-level math for AASHTO/ASTM calculations.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and perform field testing tasks.
• Familiarity with PPE and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform sampling and testing of concrete materials per plans and quality specs.
• Conduct moisture tests and aggregate gradations.
• Maintain test records and ensure compliance with specs.
• Calibrate and maintain testing equipment per standards.
• Collaborate with plant operations and quality control teams.
• Generate reports and communicate results and trends.
• Support sales with technical issues and field data.
• Work with safety policies (OSHA/MSHA) and site rules.

Overview

The Structures Division with H&K group, Inc. is seeking a Concrete Field Testing Technician primarily responsible for collecting and testing samples to determine physical characteristics or composition of concrete for such purposes as quality control, process control, or product development across multiple locations. The ideal candidate is safety conscious, self-motivated, and experienced.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs all work according to OSHA, MSHA, and H&K Safety policies
• Follow and assure compliance with quality control plans
• Sample and test materials following standard practices and quality plans
• Includes moisture tests and aggregate gradations
• Maintain test records and assure compliance with company and agency specifications
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment
• Read and follow H&K Group employee handbook protocol and procedures
• Calibrate and maintain test equipment to standards
• Establish and maintain lines of communication with plant operations, agency representatives, and quality control supervision
• Work with sales team to address customer issues
• Generate reports and communicate results and trends to the quality control team and H&K employees
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

• Experience at a ready-mix plant
• Working knowledge of concrete mix designs
• Strong work ethic and organizational skills
• Algebra-level math to perform AASHTO and ASTM procedure calculations
• Rudimentary ability to use computers, spreadsheets, word processors
• Able to work in a team or independently as needed
• Time management
• Valid driver's license
• Good driving record
• Reliable transportation
• ACI and NECEPT certified
• Ability to meet standards of PennDOT, PA Turnpike Commission, the FAA, and other recognized authorities
• Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
• Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution
• Experience in construction materials production or use
• CDL and ability to drive a loader

Physical Demands

• Lift up to 70 pounds
• Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, talk, or hear
• Vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception

Work Environment

• Occasionally exposed to moving, mechanical parts
• Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places
• Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles

Hours vary by project and may include overtime, nights, and weekends
