Schedule: 30 Hours/Week initially, with potential increase to 40 hours after onboarding (US Business Hours)
Compensation: $12/hr (Approximately $2,000 monthly)
Company Overview
Our client is a growing specialty concrete and masonry trade contractor serving commercial, industrial, mission-critical, institutional, multifamily, and public-sector projects throughout Georgia and the Southeast. Turnkey capabilities include foundations, slab-on-grade, slab-on-metal deck, podium slabs, post-tension concrete, tilt-wall construction, structural concrete, equipment pads, related site concrete, CMU, brick, and stone veneer. The company has grown rapidly over the past two years and is building out its preconstruction team for the long term.
Position Overview
The Concrete Estimator will develop complete, accurate, and competitive estimates for the company's concrete and masonry opportunities, managing 3-5 active estimates at different stages simultaneously. This role requires more than quantity takeoff - the estimator must understand how the work will actually be built and translate drawings, specifications, labor productivity, equipment, material pricing, and project risk into a reliable estimate. Structural concrete estimating is the central technical requirement; site work or flatwork experience alone is not sufficient. The role begins with close support from the preconstruction team and moves toward full independence over the first six months.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive invitations to bid and upload all bid documents to the company's OneDrive so the team can access them
- Import project documents into ProEst, the company's primary estimating platform
- Solicit binding vendor quotes for concrete, rebar, and accessories before and alongside takeoff, and file them under the project folder
- Review architectural, structural, civil, and relevant MEP drawings, specifications, addenda, bid instructions, and project schedules to determine complete scope
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for concrete, reinforcing steel, formwork, excavation, stone, vapor barrier, embeds, anchor bolts, accessories, and masonry
- Estimate foundations, footings, grade beams, structural walls, slab-on-grade, slab-on-metal deck, podium slabs, elevated slabs, equipment pads, tilt-wall, post-tension, related site concrete, CMU, brick, and stone veneer
- Complete takeoffs using existing ProEst assemblies, which already carry company pricing
- Factor vendor pricing into the estimate, including concrete plant location and proximity to the project
- Identify scope gaps, drawing conflicts, exclusions, clarifications, allowances, alternates, constructability concerns, and cost exposure before bid submission
- Prepare RFIs and pre-bid questions when documents are incomplete, conflicting, or unclear
- Write proposals using the company's existing templates, including bid summaries, scope sheets, clarifications, exclusions, assumptions, and value-engineering alternatives
- Review project phasing, sequencing, access, logistics, restricted work hours, and accelerated schedules that affect cost or productivity
- Participate in preconstruction meetings where workload and project assignments are discussed
- Manage 3-5 estimates concurrently at different stages, meeting firm bid deadlines and communicating early when a due date is at risk
- Coordinate estimate turnover to project management after award, communicating assumptions, quantities, vendor pricing, risks, and scope commitments
- Assist with change-order estimating and active-project pricing when required
