Job summary

D R ALLEN & SON INC in Ramsey, MN seeks a Batch Person to operate plant processes, mix concrete, and address safety, quality, and productivity issues. Cross-train and drive a mixer truck when needed.

You will follow 5S and standard work, maintain equipment, manage inventory, record production data, and collaborate with quality technicians to ensure a quality product and on-time deliveries.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• NCDOT Field and Batch Certification is required.
• 3-5 years’ experience in concrete mixing and delivery processes.
• Valid NC driver license with clean driving record.
• Ability to pass background and Clearinghouse checks.
• Proficient with tablets, laptops and various software platforms.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Comply with Environmental, Health, and Safety requirements and 5S/Standard Work.
• Direct concrete drivers and loader operators during production.
• Maintain plant equipment, facilities and mixer trucks through preventive maintenance.
• Execute inventory replenishment to support production.
• Report performance issues to Plant Manager and document data daily.

Description

Purpose / General Description:

Batch Person executes plant processes and responds urgently to operational issues regarding Plant Safety, Quality, and Productivity. Cross train and drive a mixer truck when needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Comply to all Environmental, Health, and Safety Requirements: Perform to, monitor, and enforce compliance with all 5S and Standard Work specifications including directing concrete drivers and loader operators during the production of concrete.
• Maintain Plant Equipment, Facilities and Mixer Trucks: Ensure all areas are clean, organized and well maintained through daily execution of preventative maintenance processes.
• Manage Inventory Replenishment Processes: Execute inventory replenishment processes to support production requirements. Ensure materials are properly protected from environmental contaminants, and storage is free from cross-contamination.
• Monitor and Report Performance of Daily Activities: Inform Plant Manager of system failures and process problems that impact our ability to meet customer requirements.
• Accurately Record and Report Production Data in a Timely Manner: Complete daily recording and reporting activities as defined in work instructions.
• Produce Quality Product During Mixing and Delivery: Ensure compliance with work instructions. Monitor quality in cooperation with CSC Quality Technicians and other quality inspectors.
• Be an effective team member: work safely and ensure co-workers do as well, follow all policies and procedures, set an example of good behavior, assist co-workers as needed, work as a team to achieve the production schedule, cooperate with changes in the work hours, days, shifts and follow applicable work instructions for Safety, Quality, Operations, Maintenance, Housekeeping.
• Present a Professional Image: Consistently provide exceptional customer service, always act professionally and maintain a positive attitude and productive relationship with all customers and team members.
• Other duties as assigned and full compliance with all company policies and procedures as described in the Company handbook.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma
• NCDOT Field and Batch Certified
• 3-5 Years’ Experience in Concrete Mixing and Delivery Processes
• Valid NC Driver License (Call A CDL Preferred), clean driving record, and reliable transportation to work
• Ability to pass a criminal background and Clearinghouse checks
• Operate tablets, laptops and workstations using various software platforms
• Experience with Field Inspection and Concrete Batching Certifications
• Strong interpersonal skills (communicate well at all levels within the organization)
• Demonstrated ability execute processes and recommend improvements

Physical Requirements:

• Able to lift up to 75 lbs., and be physically fit to perform tasks and operate equipment
• Work independently and diligently with minimal directions, to complete tasks on schedule
• Sit, stand, and remain active for extended periods
• Bend, twist, reach, kneel, and crouch as needed
• Use hands and arms for operation and equipment handling
• Maintain awareness of surroundings, including sounds, movement, and visual details
