Concord-Hatchery Maintenance (1st shift)

Hourly Maintenance — Concord, North Carolina

Responsibilities
  • Hatchery maintenance mechanics are responsible for keeping all hatchery equipment running and performing preventative maintenance on all equipment.
  • Equipment includes Separator, Tray Washer, Macerator, Hatchers, Setters, A/C units, Heaters, Chick counters, Evaporative Coolers, Unstop Drains, Replace light fixtures, Recam setters, Generators, Replace wheels on farm racks and hatcher dollies, and fixing any items that need repair.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to bend, squat and lift approximately 50 lbs. The job requires some overhead lifting of about 20 lbs when working in setters.
  • Must be able to work in temperatures up to 100 degrees in setters; however, there are overhead fans in the setters circulating the air.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder at times carrying about 15 lbs (weight of a 1/15 HP motor with blower wheel attached).
  • Must have electrical knowledge and be able to work with electricity such as wiring, motors, light fixtures, running conduit, replacing motors, and working around electronic control boards.
  • Must be able to climb stairs onto the roof once every month to clean filters and wash out A/C units and make repairs as needed.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder.
