Job summary

The Piano Technician at the Peabody Institute will support the Piano Technology team, performing concert-level tunings, voicing, repair, and action regulation for instruments used in practice and performances. This role also involves training student workers and graduate assistants within the department.

Responsibilities include moving instruments with a piano lift, cleaning, restringing, and general maintenance, as well as action rebuilds.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience including concert level tuning and voicing for professional musician standards.
• Knowledge of grand and upright piano repair and maintenance.
• Installation of action parts and action regulation.
• Education may be substituted per Johns Hopkins equivalency formula.

Responsibilities

• Tuning, voicing, repair, and action regulation on concert-level instruments.
• Move instruments with the piano lift 2 as needed.
• Clean, restring, and perform general maintenance and action rebuilds.
• Provide instructional training to student workers and graduate assistants as needed.

Job description

Baylor University is seeking a Piano Technician to support the Head Piano Technician in maintaining the School of Music’s piano inventory. This role is responsible for the tuning, voicing, regulation, repair, and general upkeep of pianos to ensure optimal performance quality for academic and performance needs. The position also assists with inventory management and service documentation.

Qualifications/Requirements:

A high school diploma and one year of relevant work experience are required. A Registered Piano Technician with Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience are preferred.
