Job Description

The role of Classroom Teacher is to administer the classroom in accordance with School Board policies and use instructional and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student. Responsibilities include instruction, supervision, classroom management, student assessment, communication, collaboration, and extracurricular involvement.

Teachers are held accountable for meeting the TAP Teaching Skills, Knowledge, and Responsibilities Performance Standards, which consist of twenty-six indicators across four domains: Instruction, Planning, Environment, and Professionalism. Each domain includes several indicators such as:

  • Instruction: Planning effective lessons, motivating students, presenting instructional content, lesson structure and pacing, activities and materials, questioning, academic feedback, grouping students, teacher content knowledge, teacher knowledge of students, thinking, problem solving.
  • Planning: Instructional plans, student work, assessment.
  • Environment: Expectations, managing student behavior, environment, respectful culture.
  • Professionalism: Growing and developing professionally, reflecting on teaching, community involvement, school responsibilities.

Additional responsibilities include administering classroom activities, grading, reporting grades, contributing to school improvement initiatives, supervising extracurricular and public events, working collaboratively with staff, parents, students, and stakeholders, maintaining attendance and professional conduct, completing required trainings, and accepting additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • United States citizen or authorized alien as outlined in Louisiana Bulletin 746.
  • Physical and mental stamina, ability to perform job functions, tasks, and duties, exhibit ability to plan, organize.
Terms of Employment

172 days, or as stated in contract or employment agreement.

Professional Conduct

Employees must maintain a high standard of professional conduct. Breach includes neglect of duty, dishonesty, acts contrary to CPSB policy, unlawful activities, or other conduct prejudicial to the school system.
