Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration seeks a Principal Computer Operations Analyst — Regional COSA (26-365) based at Schriever Space Force Base, CO. The role supports the C2BMC program, monitoring and maintaining mission systems in a 24/7 environment.

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field plus years of experience is required; Secret clearance is mandatory to start. On-site work with no remote option and travel up to 10% are involved.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field with 5 years experience; or Master’s with 3 years; or 9 years may be considered as alternative
  • Active DoD Secret clearance required to start; Top Secret eligibility preferred
  • DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, CISSP, etc.)
  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time
  • Solid background in operating and maintaining large-scale computer/communication systems
  • Experience with UNIX, Linux, Windows, Cisco, and Juniper networks
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software components
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level technical support to the warfighter for C2BMC hardware, software, and networks
  • Document events and report to the CWO; receive direction from the CCC for operations and tests
  • Assist with hardware/software installations and manage user accounts per ISSO
  • Operate and sustain C2BMC mission and training systems in a 24/7 MDIOC environment
  • Provide training systems support including DTS Control Center for Warfighter training
  • Administer and monitor computing environment including Solaris, Unix, Windows, Cisco, Juniper
  • Rotate through a 24/7 shift schedule with 12-hour shifts; timing per mission
  • Off-shift coverage (nights/weekends) as needed on a rotating basis

Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for a Principal Computer Operations Analyst — Regional COSA (26-365) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Based at Schriever Space Force Base, CO, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.

This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The Command, Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a crucial component of the Missile Defense System. It is an essential operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor the battle, and actively control networked sensors and weapon systems to meet global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC provides layered missile defense capabilities that enable a well-coordinated response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations, both regionally and worldwide, to enhance performance. C2BMC is vital for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.

The chosen candidate will join a team that reports to the C2BMC Watch Officer (CWO) and is responsible for daily system monitoring, operations, and maintenance of the C2BMC systems within a 24/7 operations and test environment.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide first-level technical support to the warfighter and perform initial troubleshooting of all local C2BMC hardware, software, and networks

  • Document and report all events and issues to the CWO and receive tasking and direction from the CCC for all operations, tests, and real-world events

  • Assist with all hardware and software installations as directed by the local SMEs and create and maintain user accounts as directed by the local ISSO

  • Operate and sustain the C2BMC mission systems and/or training systems environment for operational and training missions supported by C2BMC’s presence in the Missile Defense Integration & Operations Center (MDIOC)

  • Provide training systems support to include operating as necessary the Distributed Training System (DTS) Control Center (DCC) to train, qualify, certify, and maintain Warfighter proficiency at operating locations

  • Responsible for administering, managing and monitoring both systems hardware and software in a complex, heterogeneous computing environment consisting of Sun Solaris, Unix, Windows systems/servers and Cisco, Juniper and other network components

  • The role involves rotating through a 24/7 shift schedule . The candidate will work a 12-hour shift, with the exact timing depending on mission requirements

  • Additional coverage during off shifts, such as nights and weekends, might be needed on a rotating substitute basis

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or 9 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree

  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the ability to obtain Top Secret and eligibility to be read on to SCI clearance

  • Applicants must have a current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+ CE, SecurityX, CCNA Security, CySA+ **, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, CASP+ CE, CISSP, etc.) at the time of application, which is required to start. The candidate is responsible for maintaining their DoD 8140 certification throughout the entire contract period

  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs

  • Possesses a solid background and experience in operating and maintaining large-scale computer and communication systems/networking environments

  • Solid background and experience in system and/or network administration, including UNIX, Linux, Windows, Cisco , and Juniper

  • Sound background and experience in troubleshooting hardware and software components

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Applicants with a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, with the eligibility to be read on to SCI clearance, are highly preferred

  • Experience and knowledge of the C2BMC System or of Missile Defense Systems are desired

Primary Level Salary Range: $94,200.00 – $141,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
