Job summary

The Broad Institute of MIT & Harvard seeks an outstanding Computational Scientist in the McCarroll Lab to advance analysis of brain-related biological questions. You will work with scientists, data managers and software engineers across Broad and Harvard Medical School on diverse projects, prioritizing tasks and delivering scalable analytical solutions.

Ideal candidates have a PhD in a quantitative field, 2+ years of experience, and fluency in Python/R, with expertise in single-cell genomics and

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field
• Minimum 2+ years of direct work experience
• Fluency in Python and/or R
• Solid understanding of biology
• Experience working on multiple complex projects
• Excellent organizational skills and prioritization
• Experience analyzing next-gen sequencing data (preferably scRNA-seq)
• Knowledge of data science principles (statistics, algorithms)

Responsibilities

• Develop, refine, optimize and apply analysis methods to datasets (scRNA-seq, ATAC-seq, multiome)
• Analyze data to address disease pathogenesis, genetics and biomarkers
• Create new analysis methods and document code for reuse
• Develop data-visualization tools for the team and stakeholders
• Collaborate with scientists, data managers and software engineers to optimize workflows
