Job summary

Innovative-Reasoning is seeking an on-site Computational Modeling Data Analysis expert to support Maritime Expeditionary Warfare, Headquarters Marine Corps, in Quantico, VA. You will extract information from datasets, develop dashboards, and convey results to leadership.

Responsibilities include simulation modeling, probabilistic risk assessment, and applying statistical methods (R/Python) to evaluate performance, cost, and schedule.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Data Science/Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Engineering.
  • Experience with RStudio (preferred) or Python.
  • Must be comfortable presenting technical work to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting and dashboards: extract information from sources and present it effectively for leaders.
  • Simulation modeling and analysis: apply quantitative methods to analyze naval capability performance and optimization.
  • Perform qualitative, quantitative, and decision risk analysis to identify, evaluate, and monitor risk.
  • Quantitative risk analysis: probabilistic risk assessment of performance, cost, and schedule; decision risk analysis.

Job description

Provide on-site Computational Modeling Data Analysis, and subject matter expertise in support to Maritime Expeditionary Warfare, Headquarters Marine Corps, Deputy Commandant for Combat Development & Integration, Marine Corps Combat Development Command, located at Quantico, VA.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Reporting and Dashboards:
    • Identify and extract essential information from web instances or Excel files.
    • Once identified, data must be shown effectively/efficiently through presentations, working papers, and various dashboard technologies to inform leaders.
  • Simulation modeling and analysis:
    • Apply quantitative data science techniques (statistics, mathematics, computer science, and physics) to analyze naval capability portfolio performance, cost and optimization, multi-objective decision-making, sensitivity analysis.
  • Apply Qualitative, quantitative and decision risk analysis techniques for risk identification/evaluation, risk handling, risk monitoring and risk management.
  • Conduct Quantitative Risk Analysis including:
    • Probabilistic Risk Assessment of platform performance, cost and schedule.
    • Decision Risk Analysis includes applying risk and cost benefit techniques in decision making associated with significant risk or uncertainty.
  • Probability and statistical analysis:
    • Provide analytic process models, including various probability distributions (normal, binomial, Poisson, exponential, lognormal), probabilistic measures of system performance, data summaries (graphical and numerical), confidence intervals, hypothesis tests, regression analysis (single and multiple predictors), single-factor analysis of variance, and basic time-series analysis.

Supplemental Duties:

  • Provide essential actions required to develop relational databases and management systems using Microsoft Excel, Access, or other Department of Defense-approved database tools.
    • Includes extracting information from multiple and diverse large data sets, as well as storing, retrieving, managing, and controlling data.

Education:

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Data Science/Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Engineering.

PREFERRED

  • BS in Computational Modeling & Data Analytics.

Skills/Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Must be comfortable presenting work to audience; must have ability to present and engage in a technical presentation to a non-technical audience.

Experience:

  • Experience in RStudio (preferred), or Python.

Location: The primary workplace will be the Marine Corps Combat Development Command, General Raymond G. Davis Center (Bldg. 3300), 3300 Russell Rd, Quantico, VA 22134.

  • Employees will be exposed to a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities.
  • Remote work may be authorized, in coordination with client.

Physical Demands:

  • Work is generally sedentary; there could be a requirement to assist in moving and repositioning computer systems, servers, and other office equipment weighing no more than 50 pounds per person (e.g., two-man lift 100 lbs.).
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Work Schedule: Full Time/40 hours per week. Mon-Fri/8 hours a day. Normal working hours are 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (0800 – 1600).

License and Other Requirements:

  • Hold a valid US Driver’s License, with ability to operate private, and commercial owned motor vehicles (Rental), as required for commuting and travel.
  • Must be able to obtain a contractor's common access card, which will stand as identification for instructors and will enable them to access government owned computer equipment and Non-secure Internet Protocol.

Security Clearance: Possess or be eligible to posses an active U.S. Secret level security clearance. As required, obtain a Secure Internet Protocol (SIPR) access token for access to government SIPR computers terminals.

Travel: Travel to other government and/or contractor facilities, and/or ships may be required. Travel may be required on weekends and could include CONUS and OCONUS locations. The exact dates and duration of travel will vary dependent upon location and requirements of individual events to include planning, attendance at meetings, conferences, and/or wargames.
