Job summary

Dell Medical School is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide clinical assessment, examination, and treatment of pregnant women with fetal disorders in a hospital-based OB/GYN setting.

Responsibilities include taking histories, ordering tests, performing rounds, writing orders, discharge planning, and collaborating with physicians and staff. Requires Texas NP license, DEA, and national certification; EMR proficiency and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Current Nurse Practitioner license in Texas
• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited NP program
• National board certification as a Nurse Practitioner (e.g., AANP or ANCC)
• DEA license (Drug Enforcement Administration)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication
• Ability to utilize software for data entry and retrieving information; EMR proficiency
• Aptitude to work in a multi-physician practice in a complex environment and collaborate with physicians, staff, and patients

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient history and perform assessment via observation, interview, and examination
• Provide quality care and conduct diagnostic testing per evidence-based guidelines
• Participate in quality assurance audits and provide real-time feedback to improve patient care
• Perform admission histories and physicals
• Conduct daily hospital rounds and document progress notes, write orders, and assist with fetal surgery plans
• Order and interpret laboratory studies
• Discharge planning including documentation, prescriptions, and patient education
• Acquire limited ultrasound skills for fetal assessment and guidance
• Review charts and collect data for neonatal follow-up
• Prepare multi-disciplinary conference presentations
• Collaborate with a team of physicians, providers, and stakeholders for comprehensive care
• Ensure communication with clinic leadership to enhance healthcare services
• Provide patient navigation to coordinate inpatient and outpatient care
• Contribute to medical student, OB/GYN resident, and MFM fellow education
• Support and participate in Center research initiatives

Job description

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient history and perform assessment via observation, interview, and examination.
• Provide quality care and conduct diagnostic testing in accordance with evidence-based clinical guidelines
• Participate in ongoing quality assurance audits and provide real-time feedback to improve patient care
• Perform all admission history & physicals
• Conduct daily hospital rounds, document progress notes, write orders, and assist with implementation of therapeutic fetal surgery plans
• Order and interpret laboratory studies
• Discharge planning including documentation, writing prescriptions, explaining discharge/post-operative instructions, and patient education
• Willingness to acquire limited ultrasound skills such as the assessment of fetal viability, fetal presentation, biophysical profiles and ultrasound guidance for invasive procedures
• Chart review and data collection for the neonatal follow-up for clinical database
• Multi-disciplinary conference presentation preparation
• Work collaboratively with a team of physicians, associate providers, and other stakeholders to provide comprehensive clinical care
• Ensure continuous flow of communication with leadership of clinic to enhance quality of healthcare services to patients
• Provide patient navigation to provide seamless care coordination between inpatient and outpatient settings
• Participate in the education of medical students, OB/GYN residents, and Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellows
• Support and participate in research initiatives within the Center
• Other related functions as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Texas
• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
• Current national board certification as a Nurse Practitioner through an approved certifying organization (e.g., AANP or ANCC)
• Current (Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license
• Requires strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to utilize software for data entry, information retrieval as well as outpatient and inpatient electronic medical records
• Aptitude to work in a multi-physician practice in a complex environment; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and patients

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in women’s health, OBGYN or family medicine preferred.

Salary Range

$110,000+ depending on qualifications
