Job summary

Dell Medical School seeks a Nurse Practitioner to provide clinical assessment, examination, and treatment of pregnant women with fetal disorders. You will work in a multidisciplinary team across outpatient and inpatient settings, perform admissions histories, rounds, orders, and support fetal surgery plans.

Required credentials include NP license in TX, NP board certification, DEA license, and a doctoral or master's in nursing.

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted NP license in the state of Texas.
• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current national board certification as a Nurse Practitioner (AANP or ANCC).
• Current DEA license.
• Requires strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to utilize software for data entry and EMR systems.
• Aptitude to work in a multi-physician practice in a complex environment.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient history and perform assessment via observation, interview, and examination.
• Provide quality care and conduct diagnostic testing according to evidence-based guidelines.
• Participate in quality assurance audits and provide feedback to improve patient care.
• Perform all admission history and physicals.
• Conduct daily hospital rounds, document progress notes, write orders, and assist with therapeutic fetal surgery plans.
• Order and interpret laboratory studies.
• Discharge planning including documentation, prescriptions, and patient education.
• Acquire ultrasound skills for fetal viability, presentation, biophysical profiles, and guided procedures.
• Chart review and data collection for neonatal follow-up in clinical database.
• Prepare for multidisciplinary conference presentations.
• Collaborate with physicians, providers, and staff to deliver comprehensive care.
• Maintain communication with clinic leadership to enhance care quality.
• Provide patient navigation between inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Contribute to education of medical students, OB/GYN residents, and Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellows.
• Support and participate in research initiatives within the Center.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient history and perform assessment via observation, interview, and examination.
• Provide quality care and conduct diagnostic testing in accordance with evidence-based clinical guidelines
• Participate in ongoing quality assurance audits and provide real-time feedback to improve patient care
• Perform all admission history & physicals
• Conduct daily hospital rounds, document progress notes, write orders, and assist with implementation of therapeutic fetal surgery plans
• Order and interpret laboratory studies
• Discharge planning including documentation, writing prescriptions, explaining discharge/post-operative instructions, and patient education
• Willingness to acquire limited ultrasound skills such as the assessment of fetal viability, fetal presentation, biophysical profiles and ultrasound guidance for invasive procedures
• Chart review and data collection for the neonatal follow-up for clinical database
• Multi-disciplinary conference presentation preparation
• Work collaboratively with a team of physicians, associate providers, and other stakeholders to provide comprehensive clinical care
• Ensure continuous flow of communication with leadership of clinic to enhance quality of healthcare services to patients
• Provide patient navigation to provide seamless care coordination between inpatient and outpatient settings
• Participate in the education of medical students, OB/GYN residents, and Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellows
• Support and participate in research initiatives within the Center
• Other related functions as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Texas
• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
• Current national board certification as a Nurse Practitioner through an approved certifying organization (e.g., AANP or ANCC)
• Current (Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license
• Requires strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to utilize software for data entry, information retrieval as well as outpatient and inpatient electronic medical records
• Aptitude to work in a multi-physician practice in a complex environment; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and patients

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in women’s health, OBGYN or family medicine preferred.

Salary Range

$110,000+ depending on qualifications
