Job summary

American Regent, Inc. is seeking an entry-level team member for our manufacturing group in Ohio. You will receive on-the-job training to learn sterile compounding and contribute to the production of lifesaving pharmaceuticals under supervision.

Upon successful completion of training, you will be promoted to Compounding Technician I. The role requires adherence to GMPs, safety protocols, and willingness to grow within the team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Chemistry or related science is a plus.
• Ability to work in environments handling chemicals daily.
• Excellent chemical handling and mathematical aptitude; ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on manufacturing equipment.
• Must meet Class 100 Certification for sterile compounding/transfer at the Hilliard facility and maintain cleanroom gowning and respirator fit testing requirements.
• Able to take feedback constructively and work in a team-oriented environment.
• Must be able to read Standard English documents like SOPs and manuals.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Aseptically weigh and measure materials for product formulation; prepare raw materials for sterilization and collect samples.
• Test samples using equipment such as pH meters and oxygen meters.
• Set up and operate equipment used in formulation including tanks, mixers, and mills.
• Safely handle raw materials and chemicals; charge materials into batches with proper PPE.
• Receive, count, measure, or dispense materials and stage for use; manage materials from warehousing.

Nature and Scope

This is an entry level position designed to provide on the job training and experience to individuals who want to gain experience in the pharmaceutical industry. During training, individuals will learn the basics of working in a sterile environment to manufacturing lifesaving pharmaceuticals as a member of the Manufacturing Team. Upon successful completion of the training period demonstrating proficiency in assigned tasks the individual will be promoted to Compounding Technician I.

The Manufacturing Team is responsible for activities associated with the manufacture of safe, effective, and sterile pharmaceuticals in accordance with company standard operating procedures, policies, and current good manufacturing practices. They ensure aseptic and sanitary conditions are maintained where required, that appropriate manufacturing area and equipment records are neat and accurate, and that safe, effective, and professional behavior is always displayed. In conjunction with Production Management the Manufacturing Team provides input and assistance to other departments as needed, playing a critical role in maintaining production schedules and meeting company goals. The Team Member will assist in all activities associated with the compounding process under the direct supervision of Senior Manufacturing Team Members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Aseptically weigh and measure materials needed for the formulation of products utilizing balances, scales, load cells, flasks, graduated cylinders, prepare raw material for sterilization, collect samples from bulk solutions, etc.


• Utilize testing equipment such as pH meter and oxygen meter to test samples.


• Ability to set up and operate equipment utilized during formulation including tanks, mixers, and mills.


• Safely and aseptically handle raw material and chemicals and charge in material into batches utilizing proper PPE and equipment.


• Receive and return material and components from and to the warehouse. Count, measure, or dispense required amounts and stage for use.


• Cleans and prepares materials and components for use in production. Issue, scrap, and return materials and components using an MRP system.


• Sterilize equipment, materials, components, and supplies using an autoclave, fogging machine, and disinfectant solution.


• Disassembly, assembly, and cleaning of equipment and supplies used in the production of injectable pharmaceuticals.


• Set up and operation of equipment to perform CIP cycles on equipment.


• Prepare solutions for cleaning rooms and equipment, passivation of equipment and neutralization of wastewater.


• Aseptically clean and sterilize rooms including ceilings walls, floors, and stationary equipment.


• Visually inspect bulk solutions, filled vials, pulling filled vial samples, and transferring filled product.


• Creation of vial standards.


• Pre and postproduction line clearance of production rooms.


• Assist filling team as needed to operate vial washing and load filled vials onto trays.


• Perform any other tasks/duties as assigned by management.

Education Requirements and Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in Chemistry or other science field is a plus.


• Ability to work in an environment where chemicals are handled and dispensed daily.

Physical Environment and Requirements

• Physically able to wear cleanroom/protective gowning and equipment, including but not limited to gowning, goggles, face shields, respirators, and protective gloves. PPE and Respirators are essential for the health and safety of employees.


• Employees must maintain a clean-shaven appearance each working shift to wear tight-fitting respirators properly.


• Employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
