Job description

Pay Rate: $25.54 + this role offers a 12% shift differential

Basic Function:

To blend ingredients according to formulas provided.

Duties:
  • Mixes materials according to formulas using heating and chilling methods. Checks materials to ensure color, odor and other characteristics are exhibited in accordance with customer requirements. Processes, filters and samples material as needed.
  • Works in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and internal safety guidelines and training, including (but not limited to) the maneuver and handling of all containers with proper material-handling equipment, duties involving hazardous wastes, etc. Maintains neat, orderly and clean shop floor and workplace at all times. Reports any issues or problems to management.
  • Maintains accurate records of all work functions performed. Logs information as required on daily work sheets. Takes inventory of material and makes or reports corrections as needed. Performs other duties as required , such as dispensing and material handling.
Minimum Education/Experience/Skills/Job Knowledge:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required, with proficiency in basic mathematical skills (Metric vs. English system)
  • 2 – 4 years related experience in production environment.
  • Product knowledge including color and odor is preferred, as well as familiarity with computer functions/menus and automated systems are required.
  • Trained and knowledgable in dispensing or batch-processing manufacturing, bar coding, automated dosing systems and forklift operation.
  • Basic knowledge of interrelationship between room operations and Bioton, WWTP, and Tank Farms is preferred.
  • Must be capable of performing routine work assignments, multi-tasking and following instructions with moderate supervision.
  • Must be hard-working, self-motivated, committed to quality, and recognize the impact of day-to-day activities on the shop floor on customer satisfaction.
  • Must produce volume within established standards and schedules.
  • Clear communication skills (verbal and written), promptness, consistent attendance and willingness to work overtime are required.
  • Must understand work procedures, methods, use of required equipment and computerized work instructions.
  • Must be committed to quality and possess the ability to recognize bad or poor ingredients and maximize the use of available resources to increase productivity.
Working Conditions:

Exposure to hot and cold environments, weather, fumes, dust and gases are frequent. May be required to wear respirator for chemical exposure.

Effect of Errors:

Failure to follow safety or hazardous waste training procedures may lead to injury to self or others, loss of production and / or manufacturing expense. Failure to produce an acceptable volume of product may result in shipping delays to customers.

Physical Demands/ Dexterity:

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and manipulate, push/pull and roll containers that weigh up to 500 lbs. Frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, grasping, and crouching is required. Use of foot pedals and typing on a computer may be necessary.

Equipment Used:

May be required to wear respirator or use forklift as directed. Various automated compounding equipment.

Responsibility for Work of Others:

No direct supervisory responsibilities, however, must be a team player. Reporting of observation of non-compliance or unsafe situations to supervisor or safety manager required.
