Job summary

Compost Crusader, LLC is seeking a hands-on technician to mix feedstocks, manage carbon piles, and create windrows at our Wisconsin site. You will measure temperatures, keep site records, and maintain clean, orderly operations while assisting with planning and regulatory updates.

Ideal candidates have experience with skid steers/front-end loaders, can work in varying weather, and communicate clearly with drivers and staff to ensure safe, efficient composting.

Qualifications

• Proficient experience in small sized heavy equipment (skid steers, loaders).
• Ability to measure and maintain weekly records across multi-month periods.
• Basic understanding of the composting process and ability to follow mixing ratios.
• Willingness to work through all safe weather conditions and perform equipment maintenance.
• Strong communication to provide regular updates to drivers, staff, and regulators.

Job description

Responsibilities:

• Clean and regrade site as needed
• Provide weekly updates
• Escalate issues appropriately
• Assist/execute stability and maturity tests
• Take samples to send to soil lab
• Screen compost
• Assist with site planning

Successful candidate will:

• Have proficient experience in small sized heavy equipment, such as skid steers and front-end loaders
• Be able to measure and maintain weekly records, keeping information neat and organized across multi-month periods of time.
• Have basic understanding of the composting process, being able to follow prescribed mixing ratios and willing to learn problem solving skills regarding successful composting.
• Show a willingness to work through all (safe) weather conditions and perform regular equipment cleaning and basic preventative maintenance.
• Have strong communication skills to give regular updates to drivers, managing staff, and regulators on site performance, and cleanliness.
• Be able to work independently reliably and safely.
• Show aptitude for basic customer service and be willing to politely address public visitors.

Compensation:

• Competitive hourly rate based on experience for 30-40 hours per week
