Job summary

West Star Aviation Inc. is seeking a Weekend Composite Technician to join our on-site team in Cedar Hill, TX. The role focuses on sheet metal operations, reading blueprints, and fabrication tasks essential to airframe components.

You will work under supervision with opportunities for growth and exposure to FAA-compliant processes. The ideal candidate possesses knowledge of sheet metal processes, basic computer skills, and the ability to communicate clearly in English.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; A&P license welcomed but not required.
• Experience: Journeyman 0–5 years; Master 5+ years as sheet metal technician.
• Basic knowledge of aircraft structures and fabrication processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic sheet metal operations such as drilling, riveting, cutting on airframe components.
• Apply and remove sealant, sound deadening and finish materials.
• Maintain, clean and repair shop facilities, equipment and tooling as needed.
• Safely operate shop equipment such as brakes, presses, riveting equipment, shears, and hand tools.
• Possess basic computer skills to navigate electronic training and maintenance data bases.
• Communicate effectively in English; follow FAA guidelines and company safety rules.

What you can expect as a Weekend Composite Technician at DAS Aviation:

As Sheetmetal Technician, each day will bring new experiences and opportunities for growth. You will need to have a basic to advanced knowledge of aircraft structures, reading blueprints, working from drawings, fastening systems, procedures and techniques.

You Will Be ESSENTIAL To Many FUNCTIONS Including

• Perform basic sheet metal operations such as drilling, riveting, cutting on airframe components.
• Application and removal of sealant, sound deadening and finish materials.
• Maintenance, cleaning and repair of shop facilities, equipment and tooling when required.
• Safely operate shop equipment such as: brakes, presses, riveting equipment, shears, and hand tools associated with sheet-metal functions
• Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance data bases
• Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
• Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management

Your Education

A High school diploma or equivalent. Airframe and Powerplant License is not required, but welcome. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Your Experience

• Knowledge of sheet metal or fabrication processes (forming, drilling, stamping, shaping, bending, punching, cutting, riveting, filing and dimpling)
• Journeyman: 0-5 years of experience as sheet metal technician.
• Master: 5+ years’ experience as a sheet metal technician.

Your Sense Of Responsibility

Attend work every day as scheduled; opportunities to work overtime as workflow permits. Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work. Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day. Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines. Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties. Maintain customer oriented work habits.

Physical Requirements

• Lifts 50 lbs.
• Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.
• Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
• Climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas.
• Standing for long periods of time.

Supervision

Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in controlled environments in industrial warehouses. Multiple Departments to include : Teardown/Evaluation, Nacelle and heavy structural repairs, light structures repair on components.

Equipment Used

• Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
• Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.
