Job summary

GKN Aerospace Tallassee is seeking a Composite Operator Level 2 in manufacturing to join a legacy team building aerospace components for leading defense programs. You will interpret engineering drawings and documentations, perform high-precision assembly, and support continuous improvement efforts on a dynamic production line. The ideal candidate has 2–5 years in aerospace/manufacturing, excellent attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively.

U.S. Person (ITAR) status is required.

Qualifications

  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • 2–5 years of experience in aerospace, manufacturing or related production environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Experience working as part of a collaborative manufacturing team.
  • A&P or FAA Aircraft maintenance experience is a plus.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen) per ITAR regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced manufacturing and assembly operations on aerospace components.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, work instructions and technical documentation independently.
  • Identify and resolve production or quality issues.
  • Carry out inspections and help maintain aerospace quality standards.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment.
  • Mentor and support less experienced operators, helping to develop skills across the team.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, efficiency and safety.
  • Support the production of components used in leading aerospace and defense programs.

Physical requirements

This role involves standing, bending,reaching,and performing repetitive tasks for extended periods. Candidates should be able to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50lbsand work safely in a manufacturing environment usingappropriate personalprotective equipment.
