Job summary

Apple Inc. in Cupertino, CA is seeking an IC Component Quality Engineer to manage end-to-end quality of Apple silicon ICs. The role covers SoC/DRAM/NAND/PMU and custom silicon, collaborating with supplier fabs, debugging, failure analysis, data analytics, and QA processes across the supply chain.

Qualifications include 1+ year in semiconductor process or reliability, SOC testing experience, and strong data analysis skills. A BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering is required.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of semiconductor process, test/characterization, reliability
  • Experience in SOC testing, bringing up bench testers for defect characterization, review test logs and develop test strategies to improve test efficiency
  • Drive Apple’s component quality, debug, and defect tracking/intelligence metrics, focusing on Apple Silicon components. Perform statistical analysis to determine disposition for components that do not meet required specifications
  • Work with internal teams and Apple semiconductor suppliers on hands-on debug, and failure analysis, root-cause, corrective actions, quality improvements, develop procedures to detect and prevent issues from occurring
  • Strong data analysis skills, familiarity with AI tools and processes
  • Travel to contract manufacturer and supplier factories, audit end-to-end to ensure silicon meets Apple quality standards
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar field

Description

The ICComponent Quality team manages end to end proactive quality of semiconductor silicon ICs, covering Apple silicon latest technologies in the industry such as SoC/DRAM/NAND/PMU and custom silicon ICs. This team manages Apple suppliers semiconductor fab/assembly manufacturing and testing process, design debug and FA, quality monitoring, data analytics machine learning, MLB/IC EE, application level etc.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 1+ years of semiconductor process, test/characterization, reliability
  • Experience in SOC testing, bringing up bench testers for defect characterization, review test logs and develop test strategies to improve test efficiency
  • Drive Apple’s component quality, debug, and defect tracking/intelligence metrics, focusing on Apple Silicon components.Perform statistical analysis to determine disposition for components that do not meet required specifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong product reliability knowledge and fundamentals of relevance
  • Excellent skills in failure analysis of systems, circuits, and their components including cross-sectional analysis, Optical Microscopy, X-Ray, SEM/EDS, FTIR, XPS, etc.
  • Precise technical communication including deep level of engineering analysis and details
  • Demonstrated initiative with a high level of energy, and methodical & efficient problem solving skills including engineering DOEs
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $144,600 and $218,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
