You’ll work closely with cross‑functional teams and suppliers to influence material choices, qualify new technologies, and drive smarter, more resilient component solutions across the organization.

You will have a hybrid schedule working in Mayfield Heights, OH or Milwaukee, WI and report to the Manager, Component Engineering.

Your Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Component Engineering representative on development projects and design reviews, ensuring component decisions support performance, manufacturability, and long‑term sustainability.
  • Guide teams on material selection, lifecycle management, and risk mitigation to keep programs on track and aligned with global strategy.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, sourcing, and quality engineering teams across regions to deliver cohesive, high‑quality solutions.
  • Partner with suppliers to introduce new material technologies and support innovation in wire, connectors, wire harnesses, electromechanical components, and metal parts.
  • Train and advise development teams on component engineering processes, standards, and best practices to elevate engineering excellence.
  • Drive cost and productivity improvements by identifying high‑value, low‑cost component strategies that support insourcing, standardization and common architecture as well as long‑term competitiveness.
  • Contribute to initiatives that improve efficiency and leverage advanced tools—including AI—to enhance decision‑making and accelerate development.
  • Work with Fabrication Services to develop new parts and resolve material‑related challenges during qualification and production.
  • Identify opportunities to qualify alternate materials in response to geopolitical shifts, lifecycle risks, or tooling transfers across global regions.
  • Consolidate similar materials used worldwide into globally available, strategically selected alternatives in partnership with global sourcing teams.
  • Review component changes for certification impacts and provide guidance on qualification plans to ensure compliance and smooth transitions.
