Job summary

You will manage BOM creation, part numbering, and revision notices while providing training and back-up support across CM staff. A Secret clearance is preferred and relocation/travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of experience, master’s degree with 6 years, Ph.D. with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields.
• U.S. Citizenship is required for government-related work.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance prior to starting.
• 5 years of experience in developing and delivering technical presentations and leading small groups.
• 5 years of experience working with cross-functional teams such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing & Production Engineering, Quality Engineering, Supply Chain and Procurement.

Responsibilities

• Lead the review and approval of new parts requests for military, industry-standard and Commercial off the shelf (COTS) parts.
• Establish standardized approaches for CM data and ensure accuracy of part lists and attributes.
• Maintain Military Specification, Industry Standard Specification, cage code, special handling codes, and Special Metals databases.
• Guide engineering in developing Rev-controlled documents and product structures (BOMs, part numbers, revision notices).
• Provide training and guides on Part and tool processing; support other CM staff as needed.
• Prepare and review data for Program Design Team and CCB reviews; analyze alternates to resolve obsolescence and drive standardization.

Description

What You’ll Get to Do:

The successful candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Configuration Management Team within the Design Life-Cycle Engineering Department. The selected candidate will work in a dynamic, customer-focused environment where he/she will interact with suppliers, internal and external customers and other design engineers.

Lead the review and approval of new parts requests for military, industry‑standard and Commercial off the shelf (COTS) Parts. Establish and maintain a standardized approach to ensure accuracy and consistency of part and part list attribute requirements defined by Current Configuration Management tools. Validate component parts data in relationship to Engineering, Supply chain, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance to resolve various situations where drawings and databases conflicts need to be resolved. Maintain Military Specification file, and Industry Standard Specification file, cage code file, special handling code file, and Special Metals codes application for the Configuration Management Databases. Guide engineering in developing new or existing Rev‑controlled documents in the CM databases by assisting in establishing product structures (Bill of Materials), part numbers and revision notices. Identify errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommend revisions and/or improvements in part creation or parts lists to engineers or designers when establishing New or Released documents in the Configuration Management tools. Provide assistance in establishing special EP (Engineering Proposal) part numbers and product structures for Proposals to feed SAP estimating applications. Provide training with ability to write guides on Part and tool processing. Provide back up for all other component Engineering staff.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Prepare and review all data necessary for Program Design Team and/or Configuration Control Board (CCB) review including generation/review of applicable screening and qualification test plans.
• Analyze and select alternates for electronic components on Bills of Material (BOM) to resolve obsolescence, long lead time issues, and drive parts standardization.
• Responsible for components used on programs and document program specific part requirements.
• Lead new Component Request, approvals, and Component Drawing development as appropriate to meet requesting program requirements.
• Chair Component Engineering Team responsible for reviewing all components within the Commodity for production design use. Will include Commercial, Industry, Military, and Space grade components.
• Utilize project management skills to manage multiple priorities; use cross-functional groups to meet part requirements and program deadlines.
• Ability to lead/support across all programs when necessary.

Basic Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• A current/active US Government Secret clearance
• Have 8 years’ experience in an Engineering organization
• Experience defining engineering processes, standards and technical roadmaps.
• Experience with supplier technical negotiation and evaluation.
• Previous leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities
• Experience with Siemen’s Team Center or similar PLM systems
• Familiarity with industry standards (ISO, IEC, Telcordia, IPC, VITA, JEDEC, MIL-STD, NASA, etc.)

Primary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
