Job description

Component Engineer 4 (Intuitive)

Intuitive is seeking an experienced Component Engineer 4 to manage supplier relationships and ensure product quality, cost and delivery performance.

Base Pay Range

$136,500.00/yr - $196,400.00/yr

Responsibilities
  • Select, evaluate, and qualify suppliers
  • Part qualification including pFMEAs, FAIRS, Cpk, and Control Plans
  • Initiate, execute, and close Supplier Corrective Action Requests
  • Ensure compliance to quality management system and regulatory requirements
  • Lead QMS audits and mentor auditors
  • Lead detailed projects for transfer of supplies and product components
  • Create strategies to optimize the supply base and supply networks
  • Drive suppliers to continually improve their business and manufacturing processes
  • Develop and influence supplier part cost, delivery, quality, capacity and capability metrics
  • Drive corrective actions for supplier process through root cause analysis and CAPA
  • Drive changes to ISI specifications and lead the ECO process to implementation
  • Provide effective and timely supply base health information to management
  • Prepare and deliver supplier communications; scorecards, QBRs, Supplier Summits
  • Facilitate supplier contract development, execution and maintenance
  • Manage the ASL and Global Commodity Matrix
  • Work with suppliers and ISI engineering for new product introduction (landscapes, launch readiness, ramp plans)
  • DFM by engaging suppliers early for manufacturability improvements
  • Influence and guide Engineering in supplier selection (criteria, preferred suppliers)
  • Deliver Quality deliverables: pFMEA, Special Process Validations, FAI, and Cpk, leading training and mentoring
  • Develop supplier business continuity / disaster recovery plans and negotiate risk reductions
  • Identify cost reduction or quality improvement opportunities and develop strategies
  • Review, analyze and close customer complaints, variance requests and first article inspections
Qualifications
  • BS degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years in Supplier Engineering/Development/Quality or related field
  • Experience in machining commodity components
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including executive presentations
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills
  • Proven implementation of Lean, Six Sigma, SPC at suppliers
  • Excellent project management, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of supplier technical, quality and business capabilities
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and key input variables for quality, cost and capacity (metal fabrication, plastics, electronics, contract manufacturing)
  • Knowledge of 21 CFR part 820 and ISO 13485 auditing standards
  • Computer proficiency: Windows, Word, Excel, Access, ERP (SAP preferred)
  • CAD experience with 3D modeling tools a plus
  • Ability to motivate suppliers
  • Experience in a high-volume medical device company preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical drawings
  • Travel to suppliers domestically and internationally as needed
Benefits & Compensation

The compensation includes a base salary, incentives, benefits and equity. Base salary ranges are region specific:

Base Salary Range Region 1: $160,600 - $231,000

Base Salary Range Region 2: $136,500 - $196,400
