The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Health seeks a Compliance Officer I to promote regulatory compliance, patient rights, quality, and accountability within a hospital setting. You will work with clinical, administrative, and leadership teams to align policies with CMS, Joint Commission, MassHealth, and other requirements.
This 37.5-hour position involves audits, investigations, corrective action planning, and reporting.
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health is seeking a Compliance Officer I to play an essential role in promoting regulatory compliance, patient rights, quality, and accountability within a hospital setting. Reporting to the Chief Clinical Officer, you will help ensure hospital policies, procedures, and practices align with federal and state requirements, including applicable CMS Conditions of Participation, Joint Commission standards, MassHealth regulations, and other governing requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys investigative work, analyzing information, identifying risks, and helping healthcare organizations strengthen their practices.
In this role, you will work across departments and collaborate with clinical, administrative, and senior leadership teams on compliance monitoring, audits, grievances, patient rights, corrective action planning, and quality and patient safety initiatives. You will have the opportunity to participate in hospital committees and translate audit findings and regulatory requirements into practical recommendations that support safe, compliant, and patient-centered care. This is a 37.5-hour position, working Mon-Fri, 8:30-4:30. The days off are Saturday and Sunday.

We educate people about public health issues and work closely with local boards of health and community partners to identify and solve public health problems.

Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in investigatory, law enforcement or regulatory administration work, or (B) and equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
A Bachelor's or higher degree may be substituted for the required experience.*
*Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with your internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
