Job summary

Accenture Federal Services seeks a Compliance Counsel to support legal and compliance operations, interpreting policy, assessing risks, and guiding teams to apply federal regulatory requirements in daily operations.

You will partner with Legal, CoRE, and cross-functional teams to address compliance questions, support training, and help develop enterprise-wide programs, engaging employees across levels.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor is required and active Virginia Bar membership.
  • Subject matter expert in corporate Ethics & Compliance.
  • Ability to guide multiple teams on compliance issues.
  • Strong communication with employees at all levels, including executives.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-wide compliance programs and trainings.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret policy, assess compliance risks, and apply federal requirements to daily operations.
  • Advise business leaders on Ethics & Compliance issues and drive informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Legal, CoRE, and cross-functional teams to address questions and support programs.
  • Provide solutions and guidance on compliance issues across teams and tasks.
  • Grow independence in handling substantive compliance matters and risk decisions.

The Compliance Counsel supports Accenture Federal Services’ legal and compliance operations by providing practical, risk‑based guidance across internal teams and client‑facing work. In this role, you will interpret policy, assess compliance risks, and help teams apply federal regulatory requirements to daily operations. You will serve as a key adviser to business leaders and employees, offering clear direction on Ethics & Compliance issues and helping drive consistent, informed decision‑making.

This position partners closely with Legal, CoRE, and cross‑functional business teams to address compliance questions, review routine matters, and support the development and application of enterprise‑wide compliance programs. You will engage regularly with employees across all levels of the organization, contribute to mitigation strategies, support training and awareness efforts, and help reinforce a strong culture of integrity throughout the company.

As you grow in the role, you will gain increased independence in handling substantive matters, shaping compliance guidance, and influencing operational risk decisions across the business.

What you need
  • Juris Doctor Degree
  • Active Member of a state bar. Must register as Corporate Counsel Registrant with Virginia State Bar.
  • Act as a SME with knowledge in corporate Ethics & Compliance
  • Be knowledgeable about the work performed by the immediate CoRE (Compliance, Regulatory, and Ethics) team and teams they collaborate with
  • Respond to direction and feedback on setting priorities or assigning and managing tasks
  • Contribute to risk mitigation decisions across multiple teams
  • Act as a compliance decision‑maker across multiple internal teams, and as a decision‑contributor across business areas
  • Provide solutions and guidance on compliance issues across multiple teams
  • Complete regular/routine compliance‑related tasks on a daily basis
  • Genuine desire and ability to engage with company employees to promote Ethics & Compliance topics
  • Ability to communicate with and counsel employees across all levels of the enterprise, up to and including Managing Directors
Bonus if you have
  • JD + 3-5 years of related experience
  • Admitted to the Bar in at least one US‑jurisdiction and eligible for VA in‑house counsel certification
  • Experience and working knowledge in, as well as a passion for, design, implementation and testing of compliance programs in a heavily regulated industry
  • Experience in and knowledge of Ethics & Compliance principles, strategies and frameworks, monitoring legal and regulatory trends and developments, and translating them into accessible programs
  • Subject matter expertise in key Federal compliance topics such as Revolving Door, Gifts & Entertainment, OCI, Anti‑Human Trafficking, Anti‑Money Laundering, and Competition law, as well as familiarity with Data Privacy and ethical AI governance topics
  • Knowledge and expertise in initiating, standing up and managing company‑wide training programs

As required by local law, Accenture Federal Services provides reasonable ranges of compensation for hired roles based on labor costs in the states of California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, and the District of Columbia, and the city of Cleveland. The base pay range for this position in these locations is shown below. Compensation for roles at Accenture Federal Services varies depending on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. The pay range for the states of California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, and the District of Columbia, and the city of Cleveland is:
