Job summary

Southside Bank is seeking a Compliance Analyst to assist the Compliance Officer with daily compliance duties and to serve as back-up for other Compliance Department employees. The role supports development, implementation, and monitoring of a bank-wide compliance program to ensure adherence to applicable banking laws, regulations, and regulatory issuances.

The position requires HMDA knowledge (preferred) and a strong ability to read and interpret regulations, analyze data, and communicate

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; or 1–3 months related experience/training.
  • HMDA knowledge preferred.

  • Assists in scheduling compliance audits and provides information to the Board of Directors.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all sensitive bank information.

Job Summary

Assist Compliance Officer with daily compliance duties and serve as back-up for other Compliance Department employees. The Compliance Analyst is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and monitoring and maintenance of a compliance program designed to ensure that each functional area of the Bank achieves and maintains compliance with all applicable banking laws, regulations, and regulatory agency issuances.

Essential Functions
  • Performs periodic tests of transactions and procedures to ensure the effectiveness of the compliance program.
  • Assists in developing, administering and monitoring programs that ensure the financial institution’s compliance with laws, regulations and rules governing operations and product offerings.
  • Assists in researching federal and state banking laws and regulations, review the financial institution’s policies and procedures, and ensure financial institution compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Helps the Compliance Officer schedule meetings with departments and supervisors, as necessary, to provide information on compliance changes that affect them.
  • Assists in scheduling compliance audits of Southside Bank and supplying information to the Board of Directors.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all sensitive Bank information.
  • Maintains a positive and caring atmosphere for customers and employees consistent with Southside Bank’s mission, CORE Values, and Blue Book culture guide.
  • Provides enthusiastic, professional, and courteous service to Southside Bank customers and employees.
  • Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

  • Responsible for complying with audit policies and procedures as they pertain to this position.
  • Performs duties in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and related anti-money laundering laws, and in accordance with the Bank’s Information Security Program.
  • Must comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
Additional Functions
  • Performs routine duties with minimal supervision using standard practices or procedures.
  • Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Performs additional duties, as assigned or directed.
Required Education/Experience
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) preferred.
Necessary Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Physical Activity/Dexterity
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers. Works with fingers and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
Physical Environment Demands
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to visit other offices, conference rooms, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and telephone.
  • Constantly positions self to operate on a computer.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with other people throughout each day. Must be able to exchange accurate information when conversing.
Working Conditions/Environment
  • Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
  • Moderate noise (e.g. business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
Work Schedule/Hours
  • Monday through Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm.
  • Available for overtime, as necessary.
