Job summary

Remedy Recruitment Group are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 11–19 with complex needs in Lewisham.

You will cover several classes, provide 1:1 support, and assist with personal care and communication, helping children access sensory learning.

Experience with SEN, autism or physical disabilities is helpful; a patient, positive approach and teamwork with teachers are essential. You will contribute to safe moving and hoisting in line with school policies.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEN or disabilities.
• Comfort with personal care tasks including changing and mobility support.
• Strong communication with pupils and staff.
• Ability to engage and support learners across a sensory curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Support across multiple classes and provide some 1:1 assistance.
• Assist the class teacher as part of the team of TAs.
• Help pupils with personal care and social interactions as needed.

Are you looking for a role working with children with complex needs and disabilities, including MLD, PMLD, physical needs, and a range of SEN based in Lewisham?

Do you have experience of supporting pupils with SEN requirements, additional needs, or disabilities? Are you confident in working with children with autism, cerebral palsy, MLD, SpLD, or other SEN barriers? Have you ever had experience with PECS, Makaton, BSL, or any communication method? Are you comfortable supporting children who require personal care, lifting, and physical support, and able to work in Lewisham?

The Job

Working with pupils aged 11 to 19 across specialist SEN schools in Lewisham and the surrounding areas, you'll be kept busy! The role involves support across a number of classes, some one-to-one Teaching Assistant work, and some small class support. You'll be supporting the class teacher as part of a team of teaching assistants, to help the children with whatever they may need! Some physical support, help with communication and interpersonal skills, and delivery of sensory curriculum based learning activities!
