Job summary

Fortrex is seeking a Complex Manager to oversee sanitation operations across multiple sites. You will manage a broad range of administrative and safety tasks, lead a team of sanitation staff, and ensure the plant meets safety and regulatory standards.

This role requires hands-on leadership, budget awareness, and collaboration with a diverse customer base. We offer relocation assistance for qualified candidates and opportunities to contribute to a safer and more efficient food safety program

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Ability to read, write, add, and subtract.
  • 2 years of relevant sanitation experience.
  • General working knowledge of computers/technology (MS Office: Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and implement strategy for operational management.
  • Oversee site expenditures and budgets.
  • Analyze labor, supplies, and chemical usage for P&L.
  • Coordinate with Technical Services and HR on workplace safety.
  • Report operational issues and improvement plans.
  • Communicate with Area Manager about accidents and downtime.
  • Conduct weekly safety audits.
  • Lead recruiting, training, and supervision of sanitation staff.
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures and customer service.
  • Coordinate with customers and government agencies as needed.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Complex Manager oversees a wide range of operational and administrative tasks to ensure seamless management and success of the sanitation process. Job duties include:

  • Plan, develop, and implement strategy for operational management through consultation with the Site Manager and Technical Services.
  • Oversee site expenditures to ensure budgets are met.
  • Provide analysis of site usages of labor, supplies, and chemicals to ensure P&L standards are met.
  • Work with Technical Services and Workers’ Compensation to determine means and methods to reduce accidents at the workplace.
  • Report on operational issues, opportunities, and improvement plans and achievements.
  • Communicate with Area Manager daily to report accidents, downtime, damage, and other important plant issues and provide action plans in response to each.
  • Complete weekly internal safety audits on staff and equipment to ensure we provide our team members with a safe work environment.
  • Set, monitor, motivate, and track specific goals for the sanitation crew regarding working safe, clean, and on time.
  • Manage and develop direct reporting staff, including, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, motivating, evaluating, setting, and adjusting of pay rates and hours of work, handling team member complaints and grievances to minimize turnover, disciplining team members, planning and directing the work of team members, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal company procedures and policies including Technical Services, Human Resources, Accounting, IT, and general customer service.
  • Serve as the main liaison with our customers and government agencies.
  • Attend sanitation meetings (e.g., production, USDA, audits, etc.) on behalf of the company with the customer to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate customer responsibilities required for sanitation of the facility (e.g., maintenance needs, water pressure/temperature, customer provided supplies, etc.).
  • Submit corrective actions procedures to customer when necessary to remedy issues.
  • Follow-up with customers to ensure that problems are resolved to their satisfaction.
  • Work with Human Resources, Payroll and Technical Services with any government agency (e.g., OSHA, ICE, EEOC, NLRB, DOL, etc.) matters.
  • Other duties as assigned.
YOUR MUST HAVES:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to read, write, add, and subtract.
  • 2 years of relevant sanitation experience.
  • General working knowledge of computers/technology (Microsoft Office programs: Excel, Word, Outlook).
WHAT WE PREFER YOU HAVE:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (“GED”).
  • 2-year degree from Community College/University.
OUR ENVIRONMENT:

This position reports to a processing facility that may have hot, cold, and wet conditions where the use of Personal Protective Equipment (“PPE”) is required. PPE may consist of a hard hat, rain jacket, rain pants, boots, goggles, gloves, etc.
