Job summary

Hilton in Portland seeks an Engineering Manager to oversee hotel maintenance and engineering operations on-site. You will lead a skilled team, manage preventive maintenance, supervise contractors, and ensure safety compliance while delivering reliable, high-quality guest experiences.

Ideal candidates will have prior supervision in hotel maintenance, HVAC/plumbing/electrical certifications, and experience with renovations.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising hotel maintenance or engineering teams.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Experience with construction or renovation projects preferred.
• Certifications in HVAC, Plumbing, or Electrical highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance of hotel buildings and systems to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Lead maintenance operations, set priorities, and verify tasks in the PMS.
• Coordinate external contractors and liaise with city officials.
• Manage service requests and respond to guest concerns promptly.
• Recruit, train, and develop the engineering team to high performance.

Ideal Candidate Will Possess The Following

• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Previous experience in a manager role within hotel maintenance and/or engineering is a plus!
• Experience with construction and/or renovation projects is preferred.
• HVAC and/or Plumbing and/or Electrical certifications are highly desired.

Responsibilities

Here’s what you’ll do during a typical day:

• Ensure facility safety and compliance: Oversee maintenance of the hotel’s buildings, mechanical systems, electrical systems, HVAC, and life safety systems, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
• Manage maintenance operations: Ensure effective execution of maintenance activities by providing leadership, setting priorities, and verifying task completion through the property management system
• Oversee contractor engagement: Manage and coordinate external contractors, liaise with city officials, and inspect work quality
• Manage service requests: Ensure that maintenance requests, guest concerns, and emergency situations are handled in a timely manner
• Lead and develop a high-performing team: Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate engineering/maintenance team members to ensure high-quality work and performance
