Job summary

Spirit Aerosystems Holdings is seeking a Completions Lead for the GAC St. Louis facility. The role requires planning and scheduling workloads to align with targets and leading the shop under minimal supervision.

A strong emphasis on meeting quality standards and following manuals is noted, with sign-on bonus available. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED and at least 5 years of aircraft systems experience in the lead discipline (e.g., upholstery).

Completions Lead – GAC St. Louis

Education and Experience Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.

5 years previous aircraft systems experience in the specific discipline of the lead position (i.e., 5 years previous aircraft upholstery experience for the Completions Lead).

Position Purpose

Under minimal supervision, leads the day‑to‑day activities of a Completions shop, planning and scheduling workloads to ensure manpower and material align with workflow targets. Assists the service center in the spirit of a one‑team concept and supports Gulfstream management in achieving company goals and policies. Complies with all duties and responsibilities set forth in the repair station inspection manual and the standard operating procedures manual.

Essential Functions
  • Updates and maintains Job Safe analyst cards on assigned equipment.
  • Ensures all department work is completed in a timely manner and meets requirements for quality and quantity.
  • Ensures maximum technician motivation, efficiency, and discipline in accordance with GAC policies and procedures.
  • Assigns and monitors workloads of the department, ensuring all work is accomplished in accordance with approved technical data, including engineering drawings, maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and airworthiness directives.
  • Ensures department personnel are qualified and trained to perform work assignments.
  • Fully supports the corporate safety, FOD, and 5S programs.
  • Assists the team as required to achieve milestone dates and meet goals through proficient hands‑on work, guidance, and ensuring required equipment and material are available.
  • Ensures all required paperwork and documentation, such as ADTS, CDMS, CMP cards, R&I log, and Corridor, are completed.
  • Ensures design and engineering drawings are used and followed.
Additional Functions
  • Accomplishes weekly safety audits and assists team members in conducting audits.
  • Leads or serves on Lean and Quality Improvement teams to ensure local and corporate goals are achieved.
  • Assists in maintaining shop equipment and associated JSAs.
  • Ensures compliance with and champions safety, 5S, housekeeping policies.
  • Ensures aircraft interiors are protected (PTP) and leads local and corporate safety initiatives.
  • Leads efforts to continuously improve existing processes and procedures using Lean Manufacturing tools.
  • Supports aircraft certification and completions testing, including flight tests on aircraft as required.
  • By own example, sets standards for professionalism, communication, team building, and recognition of team members.
Other Requirements
  • Fully capable in artisan skills within the department, including planning, laying out, assembling, and installing components from blueprints, verbal instructions, sketches, customer requests, FAA, and GAC specifications.
  • Knowledgeable in the safe operation of all shop equipment, hand tools, and the usage of all pertinent hardware specific to the assigned department.
  • Proficient in all artisan skills and able to provide technical expertise to engineering and management.
  • Airframe and/or Powerplant License or Repairman Certificate required, if applicable.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, move, push, pull, and install 30–50 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be able to wear all required safety equipment and work in confined areas, on ladders, and in confined spaces.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and shifts when required to meet business needs.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
