Avalon Family Vet in Orlando, FL is seeking a Veterinary Technician to assist veterinarians and other technicians with patient care, monitor hospitalized pets, and perform in-house lab work.

Qualifications

• Able to work on weekends as required.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Ability to lift patients and equipment up to 25 pounds; assist with heavier lifting.
• Follow OSHA safety techniques including PPE.
• Basic math and ability to calculate medication dosages.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office).
• Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in clinical care and surgeries as needed.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights during outpatient exams and educate clients.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and perform routine in-house laboratory work.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during procedures.
• Obtain and process samples for lab analysis; develop radiographs following safety procedures.
• Maintain clean, organized treatment and exam rooms and restock supplies.
• Provide compassionate client interactions and thorough documentation of plans and concerns.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
