Job summary

AmeriVet Veterinary Hospital in Tyler, TX is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Technician to join our team. You will support veterinarians with exams, diagnostics, and patient care, while maintaining medical records and ensuring safety and comfort of all animals.

Responsibilities include handling animals, preparing examination rooms, assisting with procedures, discussing care with clients, and maintaining supplies.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or educational equivalent.
• Willingness to pursue further education leading to Licensed Veterinary Technician status.
• At least one year of recent experience in veterinary practice or medical environment.
• Ability to perform routine veterinary procedures (e.g., collect samples, draw blood, vaccinate).
• Maintain clear records and charge clients for services rendered.
• Ability to restrain patients and restrain safely.
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures.
• Complete assigned tasks without direct supervision.
• Show empathy toward clients and treat animals with respect.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and client service commitment.
• Ability to lift objects up to 40 pounds and stay energized for long shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with examinations and patient care.
• Restrain animals safely during procedures and examinations.
• Prepare exam rooms, gather instruments, and stock supplies.
• Review medical records and discuss visit plans with the veterinarian.
• Document services for proper billing and maintain records.
• Assist with surgery, anesthesia monitoring, and postoperative care.
• Educate clients on preventive care and medication administration.
• Maintain facility cleanliness and restock supplies as needed.
