Job summary

DuPage County Animal Services is seeking a Veterinary Assistant in the Animal Services Department. This full-time position supports daily medical care for shelter animals, assists with exams, procedures, and medications, and helps maintain records and cleanliness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of veterinary assistant experience.
• Illinois driver's license required.
• Veterinary Assistant Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily medical care and monitoring for dogs, cats, and other animals.
• Assist the shelter veterinarian and veterinary technician with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
• Administer medications, vaccinations, microchips, and other treatments as prescribed.
• Clean and disinfect clinic areas, cages, and equipment.
• Maintain accurate medical records, treatment notes, and surgical documentation.
• Transport animals to/from off-site veterinary facilities for diagnostics or care.
