Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients, and staff while maintaining the continuity of high-quality veterinary care. You will use your clinical skills daily within state practice acts and NAVTA guidelines.

The ideal candidate will have a NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a commitment to learning through our development opportunities.

Qualifications

• NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Must be able to perform NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant skills at a level that supports efficient practice

Responsibilities

• Maintain the flow of patients and assist veterinarians and vet techs
• Communicate with the veterinarian and team
• Set up procedures that do not require vet tech assistance
• Educate clients about preventive care and wellness plans
• Maintain clean and organized treatment areas, labs, and exam rooms
• Mentor other hospital staff and uphold hospital standards
