Job summary

PetVet Care Centers’ Banning Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Part-Time Veterinary Assistant to join our team in California. You’ll support veterinarians and technicians, helping with daily tasks, patient care, and clerical duties in a hospital that values Compassion, teamwork, and a Culture of Care.

Qualifications

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and owners, record basic vitals.
• Assist veterinarians and technicians with meds and restraint.
• Maintain medical records and hospital cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and their owners as they arrive and show them to an examining room, taking the patient's weight and other vital signs upon arrival.
• Triage patients, perform physical exams, treatments, and administer medication as directed by the licensed veterinary technicians (LVT's).
• Calm and soothe anxious patients.
• Assist doctors and technicians with the administration of medications or with patient restraint.
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
• Operate and maintain hospital equipment and monitors.
• Fill prescriptions, calculate and administer medications, maintain records.
• Feed patients as prescribed; record appetites; report unusual conditions.
• Educate clients about insurance, wellness, and medicinal plans.
• Maintain cleanliness of the hospital; clean equipment, kennels, and facilities.
• Bath and care for overnight patients; ensure proper grooming before release.
• Adhere to safety and wellness regulations.
• Record-keeping of medical data.
• Show up for work; part-time presence required.
• Promote hospital products and services; support the organization.
• Respond to directions from DVM/LVT promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.
