Job summary

Michigan Avenue Animal Hospital in Ypsilanti, MI is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians through daily care, patient handling, and clerical duties. You will help with exams, treatments, and maintaining a clean, safe hospital environment.

The role features a full-time schedule, rotating shifts, and opportunities for growth within a nationally supported network of PetVet Care Centers while delivering compassionate care to every patient and client.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with veterinary terminology, blood draws, and vaccines.
• Nice to have at least 1 year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and owners, weigh and take vital signs upon arrival.
• Triage patients, assist with exams, treatments and medications.
• Calm and soothe anxious patients.
• Assist doctors with medications and restraints.
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
• Operate and maintain hospital equipment and monitors.
• Maintain medical records and proper documentation.
• Promote hospital products and services and assist with diagnostics.
